I posted it on mine. My facebook career has been a long study in what it takes to make christian conservatives unfriend me. For one guy who was among my best friends in high school, it was just posting gay rights stuff. Fuck him.

This brings to the forefront a good question. One reason I have a FB account is to keep in touch with professional contacts. Considering that potential employers and business partners increasingly review your FB, how honest can you really be in your religious or political beliefs?


I feel like an utter sell out at times, but I'd hate for my *gasp* controversial beliefs to keep me from advancing my career.

There are times I'd really like to refute some of the crap my bible thumping family posts.

Reasons why I am not a Fundy.

1.don't believe in the Law.
2.don't believe in Hell. It is none Biblical, and I can prove that if you like. At least the Hell, that most people believe in. Hell may be other people, Hell maybe death, but it not fire and brimstone. As far as demons go we make enough of our own, why worry about any others?
3.don't believe in Creation theory, and have no problem with evolution. I bet I understand the theory of evolution better then you do.
4.don't believe in the Trinity.

I believe that Jesus is the way and only way, and that is about the only thing I have faith in. My lack of faith in humanity is well known.

Open-mindedness

This is a fantastic video I just stumbled upon, it isn't about Creationism specifically but it may as well be.

It breaks down the concept of open-mindedness and explains why not believing claims without evidence isn't close-minded but actually quite the opposite.

I can't count how many times I have been in situations similar to the lampshade anecdote. Saying God did it when you don't know the answer to something is exactly the same as saying it must be a ghost whenever anything weird happens. It's just plain lazy and encourages turning your brain off rather than actually thinking.
