So, issue #4 of the comic I've been writing on for Dark Horse - "The Cleaners" - hit shelves two weeks ago, finishing up the first arc of the series entitled "Absent Bodies." The trade is still months away (November 15th - and will include more of the great Rahsan Ekedal's pencils, but also the short story that kicked off the series on MySpace.com/DarkHorsePresents last fall), so at Comic Con, Rahsan and I will be giving away 30 sets of the first four issues (120 free comics!) during our Thursday afternoon autograph slot at the Dark Horse booth.
Basically, this past February at both the New York Comic Con and San Francisco's Wonder Con - in a "fuck the recession" move - we pooled our comps and gave away issues to pretty much anybody who gave us/the Dark Horse booth/our awesome haircuts a second look and it ended up gaining us a lot of feedback from fans down the road (as our editor said on one con panel, we got the most fan mail of any new Dark Horse book since DH published those KISS comics seven years ago).
We're trying to be more organized this go round, so if you have any interest in Dark Horse or horror-crime books or are a Comic Con freebie bird who is sick of all the freebies just being those weird, tiny-sized preview books and postcards, come by the Dark Horse booth at San Diego on Thursday from 3 to 4 (oh, and be One Of The First Thirty People, though I'd imagine that won't be that difficult a task!) and we'll give it to you for free.
And maybe Rahsan'll draw you a nice picture, too, while I try to keep you entertained by describing the other fine Dark Horse wares the booth will have to sell you. He drew Spider-Man for some little kid at the New York show and the kid flipped out as if he'd just been handed a million bucks and <insert-whoever-the-kids-like-these-days here>'s home phone number.
(and yes, we're bringing more than 30 sets, but not MUCH more so just-in-fucking-case more than 30 people show up, we'll be able to hook you up, too - especially if you say you're a CHUD reader).
