I watched the DVD set of the Stiller show and there really was good stuff on there but it just suffered from the same problem as a number of Stiller projects: They didn't know when to stop. The sketches would have a good premise but then just not know when to end it. Maybe if the show would have continued they'd have roped that in. But I think it's Stiller's natural tendency.

Almostsexy, I second your appreciation of...The Tick TAS! Spoooooooooooooon!

I think Pushing Daisies should have ended with the first season. While there was always a subtext of creepy to Ned and Chuck's relationship, in season 2 it became the text and Ned was weird and creepy.

Chi McBride stayed awesome though.

This is kinda lame, but the cbs (i think) show called "the Class" from a few years ago, I thought that was unjustly canceled-- It had earned a second season, and was clearly going to be better going forward, as they had all come together and become friends finally (and screwed each other)...

PS I just rewatched this show like a week ago, Im not that obsessed....

And I like the Keen Eddie call on page 2, I had totally forgotten about that show, and sienna millers hotness in it... wasnt she always running around the house in underwear?

I'll be the asshole here. The Simpsons. Yeah, I said it. It should have died after the first season. I don't get it.
A show that hasn't been mentioned so far that I have fond memories of is Bakersfield P.D, although I'm welcome to be proven wrong. I haven't seen it since it was first shown, but I remember thinking Chris Mulkey was excellent in it.

My coworkers and I still laugh out loud at Family Guy, even the newer episodes. Besides the remarkably cruel edge to the humor (that wouldn't be nearly as funny coming from live-action characters), the supporting characters have a breadth and a depth that The Simpsons has never matched.

American Dad, by way of contrast, should probably never have been green-lit. It's a show with one joke, and Moral Orel consistently does a better job telling that one joke.

Killed before their time, and mentioned before in this thread:

Vengeance Unlimited - Damn it if this show wasn't cool. Hell, Michael Madsen was the main character!
GvsE
Threshold - it always pissed me off that Surface survived for more episodes than Threshold
Space: Above and Beyond
Invader Zim

I remember being pissed that Farscape was being cancelled, but at least they did that movie to end things rather than the cliffhanger from the final season.

Angel I definitely would have loved to see more seasons of, but it could have ended much worse. Lets go to work.

Anyone remember a show called "Haunted" with Matthew Fox? I can't remember if it was good, but I don't remember hating it. Not that big a loss because he went on to star in Lost.

I would love it if Chappelle Show was still on.

Also, Insomniac with Dave Attell

Should have been aborted:
Heroes
Prison Break (though we never would have gotten that "You're a whore, your mother was a whore, etc" rant from Michael Rappaport in the final season. Search youtube for the scene).
Xavier - Renegade Angel on Adult Swim should never have happened. What a piece of shit show.
Also, most of the live action shows on Adult Swim have me immediately reaching for the remote or turning my full attention to the internet, although Tim & Eric is ok sometimes.

Krod Mandoon and the Flaming Sword of Fire or whatever the hell it was called.... was there anything redeeming at all about that show?

Are you drunk posting?

Frisky Dingo. Now we'll never find out why Killface wasn't wearing pants. Bastards really left us on a cliffhanger there.
+1 to American Gothic. Lucus Buck was the best villain that I had ever watched in a long time.
Raines, Life and Kings; NBC seems to have a tendency to make some good shows and just cancel them. I'm really pissed off about Kings getting the axe, because the last 3 episodes have been damn fine television.

Wait a second...this was cancelled? What the hell! I just thought there was an extended break or something.
It was originally taking a break so they could do The Xtacles spin-off (which was pretty good, if only for Rape Ape), then the production company went out of business, so everything got scraped.

I had heard the creator left....who did the voices for both xander and killface. also was the main writer. so they couldnt go on.

He left to make a show for FX which hasnt aired yet

You know, I need to one ay get my nerd on and watch the rest of Xena and Hercules. I bought the Xena Tapes seasons 1-3 or 4.

But yeah. I loved Journeyman, Raines, and Rome needed to stay on a lot longer than two mere seasons. I really want to get my hands on Brisco County Jr. so....yeah. Would like to see where Firefly would have gone.

Needs to be aborted:
CSI et all
Heroes.
Charmed (well, when it was on air. I would have loved to have shoved a rusty coathanger up and...)

Some of the Adult Swim stuff I'm on the edge with. On one hand, it's made for lame humor-but yeah, all the live action stuff was just 'ugh.'

I'd be with you if you said "killed after season 10,11 or 12. But after the first season...are you retarded or just trying to stir shit?

breadth and depth in Family Guy...really...lemme guess you think Jay Leno was risky and cutting edge too.

I remember this show and just looked it up.

Exosquad

I second Space, Above and Beyond
Definitely Space Above and Beyond. Strange Luck was killed to early also. What about Crusade, the B5 spin-off. I thought it was some of JMS's best stuff, plus it had Gary Cole!

I loved that show and was real bummed when it was cancelled. I am always hoping it will show up on DVD some day.

Does anyone remember "Earth 2"? That show has always stuck in my head even though it only lasted 1 season.

I thought Earth 2 was ok, if only for the Clancy Brown factor...

I'm still ticked off that the Michael Ironside version of Seaquest tanked...

Woodward, I have never done this before -- making a font larger emphasis. But your last post cannot stand. But for that:

NOBODY CARES.
I care, Dichen cares and, like a closeted minister partaking in what he rails against, deep down you care. The lady doth protest too much, methinks.

Methinks you are an ass.

One show that I remember fondly with the tinge of nostalgia: Misfits of Science. Would have loved more of that show as a kid.

The one show nobody mentioned but everybody should have:

WAY ahead of its time.

Well, you got it, in the form of "Heroes". Both shows were the work of Tim Kring. The moral: be careful what you wish for.

Holy shit.

Well, Heroes doesn't have 80's Courtney Cox or the fucking Predator in its cast.

And I don't recall if I posted it, but I've been watching Friday the 13th The Series. I wouldn't mind seeing that series get remade or something, but I think it had a solid little premise. It can't go on for many seasons because my the nature of the show it is a 'monster of the week' deal, but I'm sure they could do something interesting in 4 seasons. It was canceled in 3.

Plus, hot redhead?

The cancelations of Deadwood, Rome, and Carnivale together represent the three most prominent determing factors in his damnation that will be cited to Chris Albrecht when he winds up in H-E-"double hockey sticks"".

I still do not understand what he could have possibly been thinking. Its like trying to get yourself into the mind of this person: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_RjWN_POc9s

You cannot fathom what he was thinking.

I still hold out hope for the deadwood tv movies, and that carnivale will be finished and see the triumphant return of nick stahl to the a list (and the role of john connor) and that rome will get a feature film. a pair of articles last year on chud quoting none other than ray "titus pullo" stevenson himself on the subject of rome films suggests i should keep the hope alive... and i do, in my own way, every day.
