Goddamn this site. Now I have another thing to do kill time at work and suck away my energy from reading actual books. Oh well.

If anyone wants to trash my readingness, just run a search for mediumdave.

I've had this site on my radar for a while, but wasn't really sure what to do with it. Maybe we can actually get a long term CHUD Book Club going on there?

Reading the reviews for classic books can be pretty hilarious. I love that a lot of reviews for Rousseau's Emile are angry one-star reviews from feminists complaining about Book 5, people who think Rousseau is laying out a program that tells one how to raise a child (It's about that in the same way that Plato's Republic is about building a city), and art students who think it's too hard.

I initially found this site through a thread about a year ago. I think Patrick Ripoll was talking about it. Great site, got some friends involved with it and we all use it to chart our progress and our sometimes garbage literary tastes.

I started a "Books I Need to Pick Up" tab so I can peruse the boards and jot down what I need to look for at the library.

I'm signing up, with option to lose interest and abandon the thing in a few weeks if it's not brilliant. The biggest factor in whether that happens is # of Chewers.

ETA: friend me: http://www.goodreads.com/user/show/2536841. Right now I'm throwing a bunch of favorites and recent reads on there.
