I like Patrick. I do find it odd to start a thread just to cryptically announce his departure. Weird way to say goodbye.

Devin's right though. Leaving the message board is one thing, deleting your Facebook account would mean something serious going on life wise. Had a qualm with Patrick sometime back, but I hope that nothing's happened to him that's really serious.

I found his Facebook account but the last entry was May 28, 2008. I also found Carly's account (I don't think he ever mentioned her last name here, but how many Carlys can he be friends with?) so I just sent her a message asking if Patrick's okay.

I don't know the guy at all, but I do read the boards a lot, and used to talk in chud chat with him and others, and he's always seemed a little...unstable. Which was one of the reasons I liked him. I hope he is okay.

Totally agree, one of the things I love about this place is the sense of community, which seems to be lacking all of a sudden.
