And in all fairness, people who are having serious problems should be posting them in a different thread than some generic test Devin was running, or e-mailing Nick/Devin directly. I wouldn't have bothered coming in here other than this thread was starting to get traffic and I wanted to see why :P

Yeah, I'm not a big fan of the virus I was given, but people shouldn't openly advocate ad block. The system restore did work just fine.

Completely anecdotal, but if current readers felt safer about sharing CHUD with their friends, one imagines it would bolster usage/impressions/hits.

I'm not attacking, Nick; just speaking out from a place of wanting the site to do well.

I still think paying a small fee for use of the message boards would help generate revenue and discorage people who just want to be dicks. and for those that pay, no adds.

Come on, man...

Like anyone is AFRAID TO RECOMMEND THE SITE because of a fucking corrupted ad that the entire network got.

Lame.

I couldn't find anything incriminating, so I'm going to operate under the assumption that you're hated because of this sentence,

You are kidding, right?

Nick, i love the site and every single one of you guys, you know this.
But since when is it acceptable to have to do a system restore or get viruses every once in a while?
I'm not for ad blocking, i think it's a pretty douchy move. But nor am i for getting shit on my pc from any site. Specially the one i visit the most.

Not from one incident, no. But it's been an off and on problem for two years*, and the last time I mentioned how the site fucked my entire computer, your one-word response was "humor". The impression is that the site is not overly concerned with whether or not it infects its readers. My Symantec protection at work blows up at Chud all day, every day. We get it; we can't tell you how to run the site. But you can't freak out on us for being a little gun-shy.

I love this place like I love my dick size and I know this is out of your hands, but if the site made me have to do a system restore due to a banner ad gone rogue (and not viruses from the horrifying amount of porn I surf at home) I'd be a little wary too. Not to the point of blocking ads, but I'd be wary.

Listen to Phil. Listen to Tati. You must be receptive. Say it. I welcome the dead into my soul. Mean it.

Don't make me get wary, Luca.

Yikes. I love this site more than anything on the internet and am constantly logged on and accepting the ads, but if anything happened to my computer i'd be furious. The lot of you are being overly nice here, i feel.
