Ok, so everyone has heard 'Ain't no sunshine; at least once in their life, the man really is an amazing singer/songwriter, I picked up his first two albums a few months back and there are some wonderful gems in there, 'Better off dead' is terrifically dark song about an asshole with gambling debts, 'Another day to run, 'Use me' 'Better days' are all fantastic.

There's been a documentary made on his life and impact of his music which looks really great.

So share the love.

He was also a totally solid live performer.

The drummer in that clip just cracks me up.

The man said more in one phrase "I Know" then most modern soul singers do in a career. Plus his production was always top notch. He needs way more love then he gets.

ETA: Pretty sure that's James Gadson on drums.

Love him. Probably my favorite soul singer. "Rosie" is a personal favorite that I discovered after Kanye used it to make "Roses" on his second album. "Use Me" is amazing and funk-sexy (and is used to good effect on the hilarious ANCHORMAN CD). "Grandma's Hands" is a nice reminiscence.

Oh man, "Who Is He"! That is the JAM-- loved it ever since I got the Jackie Brown soundtrack. Of course, LL slowed that one down for his own sampling purposes, as well.

"Lovely Day" is just that-- sunshine in song form. Beautiful song.

And, of course, the big hits are cool, too. "Lean On Me," etc. Glad to hear other enthusiastic fans here.

I just saw Sarah Silverman, David Cross and Louis CK at the same show.

Bill would be proud.

Yeah, I think it is. I'm your daddy is another classic song by the man, he put's so much passion and soul into that song it's heartbreaking.
