2009 MLB Trading Deadline

The Athletics just got a mighty fine haul for Matt Holliday, and Albert Pujols finally gets some legitimate protection (though, if anybody’s paying attention, Ryan Ludwick is tearing the cover off of the ball as of late).

Roy Halladay is still being kicked around, the Padres are shopping Adrian Gonzalez, and God only knows how many other teams are about to become sellers. Do the Yankees do the unthinkable and eat Vernon Wells’s contract to get their hands on Halladay? Do the Phillies? Are teams like the Braves and the Brewers going to be buyers? The Giants?!

Should make for an interesting deadline.

I'd murder for the Giants to get Adrian Gonzalez. They desperately want to hold onto their prime pitching prospects but for him they should pull the trigger. Doubt the Padres would move him to a team in their own division though.

Word is the Cubs won't make any deals with the team being sold.

Nobody in the NL Central should trade prospects for anything. None are too good to contend. Still wouldn't pitch to Pujlos with that trade.

The Phillies should do what it takes to get Halladay. If they do they will get back to back rings.
