So I thought I'd start a thread on the career of underrated songwriter/guitarist/not so underrated singer Dean Wareham. I discovered Galaxie 500 weeks before they broke up in 1991 and have been a devoted fan ever since. I was hypnotized by their dreamy, velvety rainy day pop, deadpan lyrics, Naomi Yang's melodic bass and Wareham's guitar heroics. His songwriting matured with the more muscular pop rock sound of Luna. Their first 3 albums 'Lunapark', 'Bewitched' and 'Penthouse' are probably their best but they maintained a very high level of quality until their breakup in 2005. Beyond 'The Squid and the Whale' soundtrack I'm not as familiar with Wareham's collaboration with his partner (and former voice of Jem, of Jem and the Holograms fame) Britta Phillips. What I have heard is very, very good though.

Any other fans? Thoughts and opinions?
