Not posted in the wrong forum, I'm not talking about our trusted fellow chewer.

So this week I had a city trip to Paris with the girl, and we visited the Jacques Tati exhibition that's on at the Cinémathèque Française (http://www.cinematheque.fr/fr/exposi...bienvenue.html).

The display was nice enough, I could've used a little more 'exposition on the expo' at times, but the setup has a great vibe to it, and there's lots of props and great footage shown here (like David Lynch discussing his love for Tati soundstage work). But it mainly put me in the mood to revisit the movies again- which might be the best thing an expo like this can have going for it.

As a preparation for our Paris trip, we already watched Playtime, which always stuck out as my favorite... for those not in the know: it was a huge commercial disaster- way too expensive production, complete dud at the box office- but as a viewing experience it seems to be totally outside the tradition- you'll literally never see anything like it again. Get your biggest screen in the house to view it, it takes some time to establish it's modus operandi, but once Tati's got you accustomed to his style, the subtle jokes fly fast and all over the screen. Plus the color's flannel to your eyes: this is what it would look like if Disney ever filmed in greytones. Just a beautiful film. Not just for lovers of physical comedy, this movie is a genre in itself, you can't afford not to watch it if you claim to be a lover of film.
So now I'm getting ready for a Tati binge... I've ever only seen Les Vacances de Mr Hulot and Mon Oncle, and that was a long time ago. I'll be revisiting those for sure, along with Jour de Fête, Parade and Trafic. Any thoughts on those, or Tati in general, from the Chud crowd? And anyone else here that went to see the expo?
