Hell's Kitchen Season 6

Thread Starter
Hmm, enough posting on the season 5 thread. This season deserves its own thread.

So, um, Joesph, eh? I want to know how he was discharged from the military.

Also: Two people messing up their bodies in REALLY stupid ways in one show?
Kevin breaking his ankles because he did a stupid dance made me laugh.

Joseph? Clearly a plant. The producers thought, "Wow, this guys an asshole," and made him cannon fodder for Gordon.

Once both teams were able to conquer garlic bread (good god), was it me, or did the show resemble an actual cooking competition for a surprising majority of the show?
I thought the last competition was funny that it focused on the garlic bread, because those Italian dishes are all pretty simple to make. Although I figured there would be at least one meatball dish returned, because cooking them is sometimes difficult because you have to make sure you get it cooked all the way through without burning it on the outside.

What did that guy do to his wrist? I was in and out while my wife was watching it and when I asked her, she said she didn't know.
Apparently, he fractured his wrist washing a fire truck.
He got his hand stuck between two sections of the truck and yanked it out.

I loved Ramsay just standing there completely unphased by Joseph. He probably took down scarier guys when he was going through puberty.

Kevin kicked some serious ass, hurt ankles or no. And Robert seems to be blowing his second chance big time.
Thanks for the thread, reminded me to hit up FOX Online for last nights show.

I think most of the chaff is cleared out and some decent cooking is about to emerge.

I completely wanted to see Joseph take a swing at Gordon and have security rough him up some.

Ramsay does it for you, huh?
My memory of past seasons is pretty fuzzy, and I missed the first few episodes from last season, but that had to have been one of the earliest successful dinner services the show has ever had. Especially after the disasters the first two were.
Agreed, Richard. The jackass-to-quality-cook ratio seems much better than in past seasons. Kick out Lovely and Andy, and you have a cast approaching competence.

Would have been nice to say I was "In and out of my wife" while I was watching, but alas, I was trying to get her computer fixed in another room.

And yeah, I wonder if Robert is a little over-confident because of how far he got last time...like he knows how things work and that he's "in" with Ramsey. I noticed he argued a bit with Ramsey during service, then finally said, "You're right, I screwed up," and then he stopped talking back.

I want to know if Tennille can actually cook, as she hasn't been nearly as impressive as she thinks she is. And what the hell happened to the Captain, anyway?

She served him raw shrimp and he died of food poisoning.

I honestly can't pick a finalist from the womens team. But I think Mr. Texas will make it out from the men's team.

I really wish they would go back to mixed teams ala Season 1.
Ariel seems to be the most clue-filled of the female contestants. Van is obnoxious, but he's apparently an amazing cook. I think Kevin has a good shot as long as his ankles don't snap in half.
Honestly, I don't even remember who won last season...

but his season certainly has been entertaining so far. I think Robert is destined to fail, he's seemed flustered so far and I thought he left because he had a heart defect or something?

I was shocked to see Heather's return, is being his aid on the show something worth going for??? or did she fail so miserably he threw her a bone.

My money is on Suzanne (the one who knew there was way too much oil in the pan and tried to help) and Jim being the underdogs that fly under the radar and become huge hits. I do dig the hell out of Van though!!!

Wiki says the contract for the job she won is up. I would wager that she, like many reality contestants, has Hollywood aspirations beyond cooking. Returning to the show provides a paycheck and exposure. Since the restaurant is open only for taping I would also wager she has something to do otherwise.
Oh schnap, I don't want the funny fat guy to drop out again.
I think the only reason they brought him back is the chance he might get sick again.
Man, did I see right? Did the men get every order out and the women got zero? That's not good. The women seem to have most weak players on their team. Andy will make it further simply because of the incompetence of the women's team.
The men have a couple of really, REALLY strong cooks that are covering up for a lot of their faults though. It's not like they're the Yankees and the women are the Royals.
Yeah, Kevin and Van seem to be carrying the men. The women are just a disaster.

Based on the promo for next week (which granted are the most misleading of any show on TV) looks like we'll be losing both Robert and Tennille.
I hope Robert being sent to the hospital becomes a beloved Hell's Kitchen tradition.
I hope he keeps coming close but has to drop out because of his weight and then rejoins after packing on 20+ lbs again and again.

Until he dies. On camera. While Ramsey screams at him to do better in hell.

Notice he didn't make it into the fighter plane last night. Unlike last season, they didn't call attention to that. Must be part of his contract.

Too bad the dudes married or he'd be a natural on More to Love. Except I'd call it More to Hate. I fucking hate Robert. His little temper tantrum last week put it over the top. "I ALMOST DIED FOR THIS PLACE!" No, you almost died because you can't fuck unless you prop up your gut fat, fatty!

Were you raped by a fat guy Parker?
Hell no! I have nothing against fat people, I used to be overweight myself (although never nearly as big as Robert) and only up until two years ago did what I needed to do go get healthy and fit. I just hate this guy, his shitty attitude (if I have to hear him call the women's teams bitches one more time, I swear to god) and how he blames everyone but himself for his mistakes and then has a whiny meltdown when things don't go his way...never even THINKING to blame himself for his problems...never even thinking that the reason he almost "died" wasn't because of Hell's Kitchen. I mean, come on dude. One season was enough of this guy...now, two.
Oh Robert, you blubbery stooge.

Six seasons of Hell's Kitchen has taught me that risotto is the most complicated dish in the universe. Also glad to hear Ramsay's classic "dog's dinner" line last night.
You knew Robert was done when he had to peddle that weird looking bike up a hill.

I like how Tennille didn't realize Ramsey was a disrespectful horses ass untill he called her crap.

Suzanne always looks like she is going to cry.

I've never had a rosotto and thanks to this show I never want to try one. Seriously if contestants have this much trouble with it, why doesn't Ramsey ax it from the menu. In 6 seasons no one has ever gotten it right.

And judging from the misleading preview, Robert flatlines on national TV...awesome.
Robert Flatlines on national television!?!?! WOooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooW.

Somewhere buried in the 182 clips on hulu has Ramsey talking about the menu and why the items are on there.

Basically, if I remember correctly, it has to do with skill. I believe rosotto was for pallet, Wellington was for timing... etc..
FOX sure does hate fat people.

I actually asked my wife last night why every menu seems to have either risotto or scallops or both, because no one can seem to prepare either one correctly.

Can't wait for Tennille to be booted. She looks like Whoopi Goldberg trying to brush up for a movie role.
I would have no trouble or issue with telling Tenille to her face that, point-of-fact, she sucks. Risotto isn't hard it is just involved and time consuming. Brown your vegetables etc. in a fat of your choice. Add arborio rice and toast then add hot stock ladle by ladle as the rice absorbs it for about 20 minutes or so untill it relases its starch and is creamy and al dente. Finish with cheese and a tablespoon of whole butter. Others prefer the dump and stir method. That is once you have your basic componets ready to take the stock dump the stock until the rice is submerged. Stir until all is absorbed. Then gradually add the rest of the stock by the ladleful until it is creamy and al dente. Finish as before.

Just as every other preview for this show makes stuff out to be way worse than it is (remember the dire emergency that forced an evac of Hells Kitchen was really only to wake the chefs up to cook for the firemen) I think the flatline beep was just an added sound effect. I really doubt they show a real person flatline like that.
The next episode previews are always comically misleading and hyperbolic. "Next week, one of the chefs does something so unthinkable it will cause you to question your faith in God. [Chef Ramsey:] I can't believe this!"

My wife and I are so convinced that the sous chefs are secretly turning off ovens, stealing chicken, oversalting dishes, &c.

LOL yeah. The disappearing Chicken last night was awesome.

damnit! ... you're right.

Maybe Fox will at least have the bachlor on "More to Love" turn out to be a guy in a fat suit and tricked them!

It cracks me up that one of those sous chefs is the guy from Food Network's "Challenge". He's so nice on that show, and then he's yelling at the guys on Hell's Kitchen.

Exactly, they do this shit every week. The fact that they're implying that Robert's going to die for ratings is so disgusting...and actually kinda hilarious.
Well, Robert did die...on the line, that is. Off the show and back to...well, whatever he does in a kitchen. Although his dust-up with Andy at the end was pretty funny. If the guys lose the next service, look for Andy to be g-o-n-e, even if he doesn't screw up much. Even Ramsey said he ain't winning.
Robert's elimination and melt down was so hilarious. Although I half expected Ramsey to say something to him after the way he continued to berate Andy.
"It's affecting my dexterity in my left hand." Sad to see Andy go, just because of how completely out of it during service he was.
Honestly though.. it was a little fucked to get rid of the guy. He did just slice open 3 or 4 of his fingers and had to get stitches. I'm sure he was on some heavy meds to help cope with the pain... and that shit will cloud your mind.

It wasn't fair to compare him to the guy who fractured his wrist since he didn't get medical attention until AFTER service and while a fractured wrist MIGHT be painful if you move it... slicing open your fingers is painful no matter what, you always feel the throbbing pain even at rest.

I really can't believe the annoying black chick Tenille(sp?) is still there... and I really can't believe Ramsey is impressed with her.
Tenille is annoying during the interviews, but she's kept her mouth shut and cooked the last few eps. Suzanne, however, won't shut up AND can't cook. Can't stand her.
Tenille's voice is worse than everything wrong in the world.
Suzanne might not get along with the rest of the women, but they're sure not making much of an effort to get along with her. They pretty much wrote her off Day One and have made no effort to try and work with her.
Suzanne is obnoxious in that she can't stop telling everyone how good she is long enough to prove it. Andy, however, was ready to go, sliced fingers or not, dude was never that great.
Just think of him slicing his hand on the mandolin makes me cringe.

And yeah she maybe one annoying bitch, but Tennille has steped it up big time in the kitchen since Ramsey took her to the back and ripped her a new one.

And I knew Suzzanne wouldn't go home. Ramsey always has certain little things he does every season like giving everyone a pass if someone is too injured and pulls themself out of the competition. Or making sure the women win the challenge when the prize is the magazine shoot. Or what he did last episode, sending the hated person over to the opposite team. I think it's very likely the Women lose the next challenge and to balance out the teams Ramsey will send Suzzanne back.

Right now I like the guy from Connecticut that sprained his ankle (John I think) and either Van or Ariel in the final.
So long Van, you psychotic bastard. The guy could cook, but wow, what a meltdown.

Sabrina wasn't a surprise, although I was hoping for an awesome twist where either Suzanne would go or Tennille would be forced to whisper. Tennille may be cooking well, but her voice still brings sadness. What was it Ramsay said to her about cooking the best dish of the night?
He told Tennille that was the best anyone had ever cooked meat on the show. It shouldn't be surprising though, Tennille is from a steakhouse, so she should know her way around the grill.

While she can be annoying, last episode was the first time I thought she could actually stand a chance. Remember how heavily this show is edited, it can make anyone look great or terrible, but once Ramsay walked out, she actually did a great job of controlling the kitchen, which is what a head chef would need to do (sometimes, though that would usually be the Souix's job, the head chef is mostly creative, not managerial.)
But she needs to realize that that camera she's talking into has a microphone, so she doesn't need to project to the back row at Radio City Music Hall.

Sous chef, not Sioux chef.

She probably learned from watching people on cable news.
It's like nails on a chalkboard when Tennille talks. At least she wouldn't have to worry about being heard if she was the head chef in a kitchen.

Here's my question--when do they film the parts when they make these comments? Because sometimes it looks like they're commenting on something as it's happening and like they don't know that someone is about to overcook the scallops or the like. Do they just go over the tape right after service and then they comment, or do they pull them to the side minute-by-minute as the events are happening?

Suzanne continues to be annoying. After Ramsay said the citrus flavor was from Passion Fruit, and she says, "Yes it is. Yes it is." Oh my lord, I'd have to punch her. And I don't understand the silent treatment that Dave got when he came back from the reward. Did everyone want him to fail because he was with Suzanne? Geez.
