I am in Atlanta visiting with old friends this weekend and after a game of bowling at the Brunswick Lanes on Spalding Drive, we wandered across the parking lot of the shopping center to this restaurant for dinner. We even wondered if the place was open, as we were the only patrons in the restaurant, other than a guy leaving with a to-go order as we walked in and a man who walked in for dinner just before we got our meal. The service was slightly askew, but they corrected our orders quickly and said that due to the lack of patronage, they had already begun packing up for the night, even though got there at 7pm and they weren't closing until 9pm.
Nevertheless, Pete's BBQ was simply delicious, with a sweet and tangy sauce that had just the right amount of peppery follow-through. I got a fix-me-up plate which offered a mixture of pork, chicken, sausage and turkey tossed in Pete's signature sauce. Pete was there and was friendly and talkative and told us he is hoping to eventually sell his sauce in grocery stores.
For those of you who live nearby or happen to be in the area, this place is definitely worth stopping by, especially if you enjoy good BBQ.
