Question about payroll taxes

According to my friend and current boss Obama quadrupled his payroll taxes six months ago. I've been trying to find some info about this via Google and haven't had any luck. Can anyone point me toward some information about this?

Yeah, I was going to say that you probably haven't found anything because it's total bullshit. People would have been going absolutely insane over such a thing.

My father-in-law owns a cleaning business and they haven't had a payroll tax increase. Take that for what it's worth.

Interesting. I'm going to ask for some clarification tomorrow at work. Is it possible this is just an Illinois thing (will google)?

Ummm no. Federal withholding is the same state to state. State withholding however can be different.

The only thing that I've seen is the the social security ceiling went up to 106, 800. Depending on how big the payroll is at your place, that may cause some additional withholding.

I live in Chicago. Nothing has changed. Then again, I file exempt year round anyway...but from what Ive seen nobody else has experienced anything.
