X-Wing / TIE Fighter announcement coming soon - Page 2

I wish that...Sega's Star Wars Trilogy Arcade would get a home adaption instead.

Just ignore him, please.

I remember clearly holding down apostrophe at the beginning of each mission to transfer laser power to shields.

stelios: I LOVED that you could target different parts of large ships... always take out the rectangular missile launcher on the bottom part of the big part on those escort frigates...
I remember one level from TIE-Fighter where I was chasing this ONE A-Wing for literally hours (I was a completist, EVERY Rebel ship HAD to be destroyed, and this was the last.)...those little fuckers are TOO fast AND TOO manoeverable.

SO satisfying when I finally got the little shit.
The trick with A-Wings as I remember it was not to get into a turning fight with them. You'd be chasing them forever. Try to go straight at them and as they get close, before they can turn, do an Immelman turn and hit them from high and behind. If your aim is good enough you'll have their shields down and maybe some of their hull. When they start turning just run away from them until they come after you, then repeat the maneuver. Try to keep both their movements and yours as linear as possible.

Shit, I can't believe I still remember this. Shows you how much time I spent on it.

You and me both.

I HOPE this rumour is true...a straight update for modern systems would seal the deal for me.

...but THEN I remember it's the current 'LucasArts', and my heart sinks.
As long as a B-Wing is available...then all will be well.

I'm telling you. I foresee snow in our future.

Crap, my PC could probably run it, but I don't have a joystick (which is necessary, FACT) and I don't think a console controller could do it justice. I hope I can find a decent joystick cheap.

Got a back-catalog announcement on Monday. It's not X-Wing! I'm heading THAT rumor off at the pass!

Bastards...

...in some STRANGE way, I'm relieved.

He didn't say Tie Fighter lol
The TIE Stealth Fighter was wickedness.

Rogue Squadron on the Gamecube had some really fun stuff. Trying to beat the Battle of Endor in a TIE Fighter is an epic feat that only the truly elite have accomplished (I guess . . . I mean, it has to be possible).

I loved this game! un-tolds amount of money went into this game.

A Dark Forces remake is something I would like to see as well.
MoonBaseNick, Yeah! Dark Forces would be great. For the Wii, Lucasarts should make a new version of...Super Star Wars, that series on the Super Nintendo was...FORCEfull, as well as an epic.
I'm all for another series of "super" Star Wars games done in a Force Unleashed style. While I would love to see six games in the series I'll be more then happy with A New Hope, Empire and Jedi. But I would like to see it on more then just the Wii though.
Well shit, just posted on Lucasarts Twitter

It's not tie fighter either. Geez guys. Be more inventive! 3:35 PM Aug 7th

I liked that Sega game as much as anyone, and dropped plenty of quarters in it. But to prefer some arcade on-rails shooter over X-Wing or Tie Fighter is nonsense (not that you did that, Fleed is just irritating).

X-Wing vs. Tie Fighter?
Or the often-overlooked X-Wing Alliance?
out of them all, X-Wing Alliance was the last to come out, so a remake does not really make sense. I still have my copy somewhere...

Oh, crap. It's a real game? I was just making a joke.

Jacob Singer, There is only one flaw with Microsoft, that I want to see changed. I would love if they had a...Lightgun, so I could play games like T2 The Arcade Game, GunbladeNY or Rambo Trilogy! I would so take an on rails arcade shooter over any other type of game. I hate hearing and reading how game critics say, the 21st Century has better games than the 90's. That is simply so untrue. Capcom's The Punisher is better than any Call Of Duty game, or halo. The 90's introduced...SNK's Metal Slug Series, and that series is all kinds of awesome. I definitely prefer the Raiden series over X-Wing or Tie Fighter. You may think I am irritating, but my taste in games is simply different than yours.

Your prayers will probably be answered with your thumb and forefinger when Natal comes out.
If they're getting bombarded on Twitter, surely they realize there's a demand for these games. What's the deal?

My money is on Dark Forces.
Count Floyd, PS3 and Wii fans can buy...Light Guns, why not people with 360's? I will definitely...Not be buying...Natal. A motion control system is no replacement for a...Light Gun.

This game would be pretty great, just for how much the multiplayer scene has exploded since the first time it came out.

Well Fleed, do you have a Wii?

RT @ctplante: Super Star Wars, Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi - all coming to Virtual Console! Good work, @lucasartsgames.

So true,

Going through my old PC game collection I've come to find out that I own it! ha ha I just have no memory of ever playing it.
MoonBaseNick, I have a...360 and a PS2. If I did have a...Wii, Tatsunoko Vs Capcom would be a...Must Buy for me.
well, just saying, cause the Super Star Wars series looks to be coming out for the Wii...but where is the Tie Fighter news hinted at?!

My brain immediately pictured Justin Clark reading this and firing up his Gamecube to make a video.

To be fair he did say they didn't have any announcements, and 'soon' can mean whatever however long they want it to mean really.
If i have said it once, i've said it 20 times. i will no longer give lucas a single lincoln cent of my hard earned funds. the force unleashed (aka, kates frustration at broken controls: UNLEASHED!) was the last straw. like the holocaust, NEVER AGAIN
post #88 of 93
If The Force Unleashed was your last straw, I think you have more patience with Lucas than most.
If you want to run these games (including Alliance) on a modern PC, there are plenty of websites who should be able to get you up and running. Lucasarts does not give a shit about supporting them, but there is a huge fanbase that still plays the games.

And for those of you with the DOS versions, DOSBOX is your friend.

There is a patch for the Windows 95/98 remake of the original X Wing/Tie fighter games that runs it under XP/Vista.

no force unleashed was my last "last straw". i kept swearing off his nonsense but coming back when something new and shiny cropped up (the physics tech for force unleashed). now though.. i am just done.

I ordered...Star Wars The Clone Wars Republic Heroes from Gamestop, and it looks pretty cool.

I know, I just miss the Lucasarts that used to make the best games out in the market. What happened? It's like if it's not Star Wars or a Lego game they just don't care anymore.
