The acting is atrocious, but I like some of the imagery. Release info?

The fact that us westerners are still talking about Fruit Chan in terms of DUMPLINGS makes me want to brutally cockpunch everyone at Criterion who's responsible for totally ignoring his masterful trilogy of MADE IN HONG KONG (1997), THE LONGEST SUMMER (1998, out of print) and LITTLE CHEUNG (1999, out of print). If he were Japanese as opposed to Chinese, we wouldn't even be having this discussion and those films would be on their second Criterion reissue with imminent Blu-ray treatments coming in time for Christmas, in a handsome box set. Criterion is like the park in FIST OF FURY*... only dogs are welcomed with open arms.

Hasn't DON'T LOOK UP been on the shelf for a good while now? That trailer was lousy and probably spoils a bunch of the "money" shots... but it's easy to cut a bad trailer for a good movie. Hopefully that's the case, but if it were I'd think this film would have surfaced sooner. Fruit Chan's already got a new film finished, having directed half of CHENGDU, I LOVE YOU.

Oh well, this trailer for a likely-shitty, long-delayed horror movie provided an opportunity to talk about Fruit Chan so it's not a total loss.

*Wong Kar-Wai and Edward Yang are secretly French.
