I've been watching the show since, on and off, the beginning!!!

This is the FINAL season.

Pretty meh for the premiere. Here's hoping it gets better.

Now will they still have the "Summer Finale" and finish up in January/Feb like usual. Or is this it.

Well the "this is what happened" set in a 70s sitcom was fun, but yeah overall an OK episode.

They're supposedly going to solve the Trudy mystery before it ends, so that should be fun. We'll probably get to see Dave the Whale again, curious to see who will play him this time.

That was my favorite part of the episode. I really enjoyed Monk explaining what happens to each of the child actors when they grow up.

While the show has lost some steam over the years, I am looking foward to how they resolve everything this season and the return of Bitty Schram as Sharona, Monk's first assistant.

Excellent 2nd episode. Even if it wrapped up a bit too tidy.

The Sharona episode was pretty good but her and Disher hooking up at the end was weird.

Also this proves to me that Natalie is much better as the assistant. Sharona is to shrill and grating.

When Sharona was on the show, she and Randy flirted all the time.

Yeah, still when Randy said she looked great when she had obviously put on a few pounds I was kind of like, "Hmmmm."

I keep dreading the preview where they advertise it as 'the final episode.' Still, this episode really reminded me of how much better Natalie is than Sharona as an assistant.

I really hate that they made the finale a two parter. Pretty good for the first half though.

I was hoping Dale the Whale (with another random actor portraying him) was going to make an appearance / be involved in this.
It's pretty obvious who the murderer is.

Also, when I saw Casper Van Dien's name, I was hoping he would be Dale the Whale.
Oh, the culprit is obvious. As is the fact Monk won't die in the final episode and that Randy is moving to NY/NJ possibly to be with Sharona.

I think that the poison is in his hand wipes. How stupid are these cops? I actually think I'm going to miss MONK.
Yeah, all of those things are pretty true (the wipes, who the murderer is, Randy moving to NYC/NJ). I think it would be interesting if they killed off Monk though and would appreciate it if the show had the balls to do that.
It would be ballsy to kill him off I just can't see it happening though.

I think it would be wrong headed to kill off Monk, not to mention that it wouldn't fit with the happy endings the supporting characters are being set up with.

Thematically, the show, formula as it is, has been about the character coming to terms with, as best he can, his mental issues and pushing beyond. That's what the therapy sessions are about. The show isn't really about the death of his wife, but how he copes with / overcomes that. The overall character arc is Monk is going to push through to have a somewhat normal life, not be miserable to the end and die.

I do agree with the rest of the suppositions. The poison has to be in the wipes.

Well, it could be that it takes his own death for him to really figure out and understand Trudy's. Consider that the clue that actually is making it possible wasn't discovered until he opened her gift.

Obviously the show is setting it up that imminent death as a way to force him to confront these things he'd been unwilling to do before. Keeping him alive will give him a chance to enjoy that progress. Killing him off would reveal the tragedy of his actions after her death. If he'd just opened the gift right away he'd already have solved her murder ... instead, by holding off so long he may never get the chance.

The show's never really been about tragedy (although they did kill off his annoying friend Kevin) but it would be an interesting way to view his life.

ETA: Especially given the way he responded when he got his badge back ... seriously, he didn't even make it an entire episode back as a detective.

If anything I could see them keeping him alive just to possibly bring him back in a once every couple of years Movie.
Yeah, I don't mind the Psych and Monk Christmas specials.
Final episode starts in a couple of minutes. Hope they don't drop the ball with the finale.

Very nice way to end the show. Liked seeing a relaxed Monk at the end.

Wasn't bad at all.
