Now, I do not necessarily agree with a remake. Especially since so may have not had the oppotunity to see the original due to regional issues on DVD. (Stupid, stupid...)
Anyway, I truely hope I am misinterpreting what Mr. Anderson is saying. Because it sounds to me like he is saying 'Ring' is just a hack of 'Candyman'.
I think we should make him watch the tape...
