Let it die.
More than that, kill it with fire.
The foreign take was really good, so, I wouldn't be surprised.
Unless its a Predator vs Terminator movie, I am done with this franchise.
How the fuck is McG involved with Spring Awakening, the musical?

Bring in Buddist monk(s), an exorcist, four leaf clover and a hop, skip and punch-McG-in-da-face.

Then drain his spirit into a goat and cut off it's fucking head.

Looking back, I see T4 as a $300 million fan film. It didn't fit totally into Cameron's storyline, but it was entertaining. I don't want a film set in a contemporary world though. Let's stay on this timeline, show us the war.
Warner Brothers paid 100 million for the domestic rights to the film. MGM has first refusal on Terminator 5 and I could totally see them doing it, for the sole purpose for them to continue to pretend that they are a studio.

And can someone tell me why Jonathan Mostow went to directors jail after number 3?
Another Terminator and a contemporary one at that? You're right McG, I as part of the audience am filled with anticipation.

Listen, guy. Contrary to the odds you managed to end ever so slightly ahead with the last one. Quit pushing your luck.

"Obviously, Michael Bay had tremendous success following Transformers, in a very short window."
One of the many reasons why I'll always take a human being like Guillermo del Toro over an automaton like McG is how GDT had the humanity to just say "I got butt-fucked by Dark Knight."

"So, for me, it's terrible to get back out there"
Fixed that for ya, McG.

"and show a different face of that idea, and perhaps get out of the apocalyptic world and into a contemporary world"
What an innovator! Have the Terminator war spread to a... contemporary setting! Brilliant idea!

In other words, will McG become another Bryan Singer?
Uhm, Renn, once you get your head out of the ass of trendy CHUD snark, you'll know that McG needs to pull off the rough equivalents of Usual Suspects, Apt Pupil, X-Men 1 and 2, and Valkyrie before any such comparison could be made.

Context. Singer, as in dropping hints about returning to a franchise he obviously isn't going to.

Christ, this franchise is going down the same path as the Alien one: to a slow, humiliating death. Best to take it out back and put it down, to spare us the agony of seeing Paul W.S. Anderson's 'Terminator vs. Aliens vs. Predator vs. Milla Jovovich'.

Dude's obsessed with Michael Bay or something. I'm all for another round.
What's the point of a future war trilogy that reverts to a contemporary setting after the first film?
I'm exhausted on this franchise. I don't want to see some gritty war against robots, especially if Christian Bland is involved. I agree with felix, let it die already.

Or, you know...wait a few years and just remake the original, cause that's what'll happen.
Since when is McG's word suddenly gold again? Need we point to the numerous times the dude was caught lying his ass off?

I liked Salvation and wouldn't be against another one. But that ain't gonna happen.

It's cheaper I'd assume. I enjoyed Salvation well enough, but I'm not all that fussed on seeing another and I'm out for sure if this is the direction it's headed.
But the idea is to bring the future war to the present day, right?
Skynet sending a big army to the "past" and Connor having to fight them using our ancient technology.

It could make for some great mayhem. But it won't happen. Too costly.

You mean ancient like the M4 carbines and Huey helicopters they used in T4? Bringing this back to the present day is stupid.

Usual Suspects -> KoRn: Then And Now

Apt Pupil -> We Are Marshall

X-Men 1 and 2
-> Charlie's Angels and Charlie's Angels: Full Fucking Throttle

Valkyrie -> Terminator Salvation

Pffffft. Stupid asshole.

is there any reason i should hold out hope that nick stahl will return to reprise his iconic portrayal of john connor? that was truely an incendiary piece of acting. no one in the world plays reluctant but destined savior of humanity like nick. just watch carnivale, i wept multiple times when watching that show. acting scared, looking like a weakling drug addict for most of the movie, but then when arnold chokes him, you see that anger rise up, his "f you, you effing machine!" sends chills down my spine. its suddenly believable that through some crazy mixed up time travel destiny, maybe this kid who wnats nothing to do with his fate really will lead a war against the machines

I wouldn't recommend holding your breath waiting for that to happen.

I actually really like Nick Stahl and thought he did a damn good job in T3. But no, that ain't happening. Ever.

oh mann... nick was so perfect in carnivale, playing a role very similar in terms of what the character had to go through emotionally, having this great destiny looming that he has known about forever, but is still trying to run from

well at least nick stahl can star in more movies now, not being in any more terminators should free up his schedual at the very least

Can't wait 'til he promises to fix everything that was wrong with Terminator Salvation ie. everything people complained about in internet reviews.

If a director can't tell what the problems are with a movie without having to be told then he shouldn't fucking direct.
I don't lay much of the problem in McG's lap. The movie looked awesome. The problem was the story, and Bale's ego.

Wasn't McG involved long before Bale, and the original script shit-canned when Bale came onboard?
I am just trying to fathom what new "thing" would require them to travel back to our time?

According to legend, Bale wanted a rewrite because he is the man who played Batman. The man who played Batman, did not want to be the man who played Marcus Wright. He wanted to be the man who played John Connor.

And as we all know, a man who plays Batman cannot have a smaller part as John Connor, since that's what the original script called for.

i have to say, bales thinking makes perfect sense, i just do not think he fully considered the possibilites of the marcus character. however, i also think the marcus character was dumb in alot of ways, having a human heart etc, all that stuff was totally out of sync with the other films

Hey maybe Cameron will come back for some prequel/sequel down the road?

IESB: Do you listen to fan criticism, or is that just too much information?

McG: No, I listen to everything. It's interesting because a lot of people don't like me, but a lot of people just don't like my name. I can't take that too seriously because that's been my name my whole life. It's not something that I prescribed myself. So, I just gotta roll forward and, hopefully, have the films do the talking.

You take your lumps, if they don't like it, and you enjoy it a lot more when they do. We've all been on every side of that, and what can you do, but figure out what you did right and what you did wrong, look at it a little more closely, study the people that you look up to, and continue to evolve as a storyteller.
I think McG is the dumbest name ever, but that has nothing to do with the fact that he's made some REALLY crappy movies. This guy is just in complete denial, I think he's been that way since he left Superman Returns. Anyone that insists on an actual penis measuring contest has to be slightly off.

And I realize they didn't go through with the contest, but a grown man talking about it at length (no pun intended), that's just desperation. Maybe he really does see his work for what it really is and he's just hoping no one else does.
They won't spend 175-200 Million on T5, that is damn sure.
T4 is a classic example of overspending on a film. If they had kept the budget at 100 Million dollars, they would have had a nicely profitable film. As it stands, they made chump change, not really worth the size of the investment. They are going to spend a lot.lot.less on T5.
So, a couple of days later, you guys still believe there's gonna be a T5?

Remake of the original in a few years time, probably. McG near this franchise again, highly unlikely. And I genuinely enjoyed his movie, messy or not.

obviously my spelling sucks, but i just thought i'd add, from what you just siad, you find it hightly likely that mcg will be back to the franchise again.

...And you're absolutely right. My apologies and thanks for annihilating my reputation here.

I think I'll edit it out before I go cower in the corner for the next couple of months.

Poor, poor good ole McG. Not only he gets his ass kicked financially by Michael Bay, but now also artistically by Shane Acker.

THIS is what Terminator 5 should be, or else I don't want to see it.

already posted 1 page back, but go ahead it needs repeat, cause that is definitely more in the vein of what I'd like to see when it comes to future war.
