I want to believe this is good but until someone I know has played, I'm not touching.

I'm sure it will at least be decent (it's Raven Software, after all), but I agree- not sure if it'll be a rent or a buy. Might be getting a review copy so I'll definitely let you guys know.

No... blame my ignorance. It was not your fault! LOL!

Seriously, though. I'm getting a weird "Hellboy without the Hellboy" supernatural Nazi vibe from it, and the trailer looks amazing. There's just one bit that's wrong.

Every WW2 themed game, TV show, or film always shows some muldoon firing an MP40 submachine gun WITHOUT extending the stock... and hitting things very far away.

Sorry... that's always frosted my Kelvinator.

Game does look sexy, though! I'll buy it.

I loved that headline.

I'm looking for some reviews, too, before I pick it up. I really do have fond memories of the original game, but I wasn't too excited about any of the follow ups, so we'll see.

*Does anyone remember Blake Stone, Wolfenstein in space?

Man Return to Wolfenstein was one of my favourite games on the PS2 even if it was marred by a truly terrible final quarter. There was something about Wolfenstein's blend of over the top weaponry and actually intelligent enemies which was amazing. Nothing like skulking through ruined German Churches whilst being stalked by those SS Paratrooper fuckers.

Damn, gonna have to fire up Return to Wolfenstein now.

i may have missed this tidbit, but which platform is this for: Wii or Mobile? Cough*the graphics looked shoddy*Cough

Jeus, yet another one I let slip under the radar. It all basically works for me like this:
Game company says 'Hey people we're making [insert eagerly anticipated title]'.
I say 'Awesome'.
Game company says 'Yeah, it'll be done in [insert crestfall inducing timeframe].
I say 'Damn, well i'll just put it out of mind for now.'
Someone down the road says out-of-the-blue 'Hey have you played [said eagerly anticipated title] ?'.
I say 'D'oh!'

My recent videogaming life has been sadly free of occulty Nazis. Also looking forward to creeping up on Jerries and eavesdropping on their hilarious banter. Hope they got Bill Brown to do the music again.

Seconded.

This game reminds me a lot of the first ten minutes of hellboy mixed in with F.E.A.R 2 and the Snes Zelda game.

Being an FPS junkie and loving anything related to the nazi occultism, the game is fun. The secondary powers and exploring the other world definately give it more meat than your standard run and gun fps.

The promotional videos I saw a few weeks back looked graphically worse than RTCW did.

I don't think it's going to recapture what made that game fun for me. I'll pass. It didn't even look rental-worthy. Haven't had to say that since that new "Conflict" game.

Saying that, i'm still knee-deep in Fight Night 4. I'm not sure i'm in FPS mode at the moment.

I'm a big fan of the Wolfenstein series so I've already got my copy coming in the mail. I don't think they did a good job of advertising this game and I'm afraid that the sales will be kind of on the low end. From early reviews that I've read the single campaign seems to be pretty meaty clocking in at about 10 hours. The multiplayer is supposedly weak which is too bad considering how awesome it was in RTCW.

Is there a PC demo for this? I can't find one so I'm assuming no?

This.

Also, the particle cannon, or as I call it: the 'BWEEEEE FUCK YOU' gun. It became my early pick for 'best gun in the game' when I turned a group of nazis into smoldering ash with it.

Seen videos of that gun and it looks pretty bad-ass! Can't wait to try this game out.

Holy shit. You can stack special powers. You can run around as a speedy, bullet-timing dealer of death who can run through some walls, and all you have to do is activate which powers you want one at a time. Granted, it bitchslaps your special meter into submission, but damn if it isn't a great way out of a shitty situation.

I'm upto 60% in the game and I can say that I'm enjoying it for what it is. I'm coming to the point in my gaming life where every game doesn't HAVE to be the next step of evolution in gaming for me to like it. It just has to do what it does well. Evil Nazi occultist trying to bring mutant beings from another dimension to fight WW2, while I blow them away. Wolfenstien does this. Fun times.

I'm digging the weapon upgrade system and the way the mission structure and main city hub works. The game rewards you for really exploring your surroundings and using the secondary viel powers. I've heard the multiplayer doesn't compare to the last one but I'm getting into this games singleplayer a lot more than the last wolfenstien game.

The particle cannon is a beast. And so is a fully decked MP43 with a scope.

The multiplayer is complete shit, in fact the multiplayer team got the can the day the game came out.
Yeah, it's completely serviceable as single player FPS. But nothing more.

Decent, fun sometimes. Well done. But it brings NOTHING new.

A rental!

I'm almost done this one and I've enjoyed it. I'm quite impressed actually with the level designs. Too bad this game doesn't have the PhysX ability but that'll come into play with Modern Warfare 2 (if it has it?). Being able to buy upgrades for the guns is kind of cool but I hate looking for the gold, intel and tomes. The majority of the time I can't be bothered. I'm about to head to the Airfield so I assume the game is coming to an end. Those damn invisible ninja-Hellboy-rip-off-Assassins were a pain the first few times.
Just time freeze them. It's the easiest way. You still have quite a few levels to go. And a couple of good Boss Fights.
Well enjoy this Wolfenstein outing for what it is, because we ain't gonna see another Wolfy game for quite a while, since this one bombed big time. Less than 200,000 copies sold between Pc, ps3 and 360. Nice job marketing the game, Raven Ol' chap.

Its a shame because I kinda dug the weapons and the enemies. Still think this is the as close to a good HELLBOY game as we're gonna get.

Tried the demo out, and hello full retail version asap.

It's a solid shooter and a worthy addition to the Wolfenstein series. Too bad about it not selling very well. I actually enjoyed the campaign in Wolfenstein more than ODST. It was just the multiplayer that I was really disappointed in.
The campaign is a lot of fun and its consistently engaging for its 8-10 hour run time. Its something I enjoyed much more than the previous Wolfenstein game or the ODST single player campaign.

Charlie Brooker has some thoughts on the game:
