Anyone a fan of this series?

Currently playing the 2008 verision and I'ts a big improvement over 2007. Quite like the 24/7 mode, playing William Regal working towards making him a legend.

Find these games to be hit and miss. 2006 GM mode was awsome but the career mode sucked. 2007 Both GM and Career sucked big time. Anyone else think that as the series has gone on, the entrance music has become more limited?

Here comes the pain is still my favorate overall of the series, the career mode in it allowed you to win any of the belts rather than just the wwe title.

I played the demo of the newest version...I just can't figure out how to do any of the moves other than the basic ones. Maybe I didn't give it time enough. I still play "Firepro" more than anything.

They do seem to be making it harder to play as they games go on. Which is part of the reason i still perfer Here Comes the Pain.

Never played Firepro don't think you can get it in the UK.

Years ago, I actually bought a Sega Dreamcast (I think that was it) just so I could buy the import of Firepro Six Man Scramble. They finally released a version of Firepro for the PS2. Actually, that and Guitar Hero are pretty much the only reasons I still have a PS2. And I'm very close to trading in all my GH stuff to buy Beatles Rock Band for the PS3 next month. It's a 2D wrestling game, but it's so much fun. They have just about every wrestler you can think of in there, but they name them these fucked up names so they don't get sued. You can then go back and re-name all the characters to their proper names. Also, they have death matches with exploding rings, cage matches, MMA stars, the Octagon, barb wire rings. And with some wrestlers, you can "cheat" and pull out an "international object" and start stabbing your opponent in the head with it, and they will start bleeding. It's so much fun. See if you can find it in the UK--it's called "Firepro Wrestling Returns". Then you can find various websites that will tell you who every wrestler really is.

Once you get a copy of Fire Pro Returns, what you want to do is go to fireproclub.com and read up on the (very easy) tutorials on how to copy over people's memory pack saves with all the re-named characters . . . or download their huge-ass packs of expertly crafted CAW's since there's 500+ CAW slots to fill up . . . and while you're at it, download and add the patch that converts all the menu's to English (makes it ALOT easier - especially CAW mode) . . . all requires a chipped mor modded PS2, but it's worth getting it done, or picking up a second and doing it solely for that game and the stuff you can do with it from that site. Trust me.

You won't NEED any other wrestling game. Ever.

NZ Natural speaks the truth. FPR hasn't really left my PS2 since I got it two years ago. The best wrestling game to be released on these shores ever.

After a few months of playing FPR, I decided to try SDvsRAW 2006 again and I couldn't play it! I'd gotten so used to the timed-grappling system (and excellent A.I. engine) that FPR uses that the WWE games are just overly expensive mo-capped pieces of shit to me now.

And with the help of a Gameshark I can play the two very excellent VIRTUAL PRO WRESTLING titles on my N64. VIRTUAL PRO WRESTLING 2 is amazing, the AKI engine merged with the epic roster of 1990s All Japan? Sheer fucking bliss. The tag team classics I've had between Kobashi/Hase(me) and the current champs Misawa/Ogawa have been nothing short of fantastic. Hell, the hard-hitting war we had with the team of Hansen/Vader had me marking out like crazy.

NO MERCY is dead to me now and has been for some time.

I was using an N64 emulator to play VPW2 for a while there, cos there was a project that was being shared about online that was modding it to pretty much become an MMA game (before it got popular enough for there to actually be an official one) using the MMA mode that VP@ had (that No Mercy got rid of, thank you very much!). It was really impressive what some these guys had done in terms of new graphics layers to make arenas and signage look like a Pride FC set-up . . . as well as modding the animation on some moves to invent whole new attacks (they combined the animations of about three different moves to create the Superman Punch - awesome!). Unfortunately, the trail for new material just sorta went cold after a while - no idea what happened to it all.

As for 3D wrestling games, King Of Colleseum 2 from Japan is basically a 3D version of Fire Pro . . . I don't think it's as good, but it's still pretty damn impressive.

Speaking of KOC II I just got my copy from Japan and all I need is a universal plug adapter for my region-free PS2 and I can play FPR and it's 3D cousin in the same console. I think my head might explode from wrestling simulation nirvana.
