Holy shit...Im speechless at the level of hypocrisy and censorship this means.
As if needed yet another reason to hate this bastard and his crew.

Ha, you beat me to it.

This a direct response to a comment he made about a month ago, here are some quotes from him;

"[The DS and Nintendo (Wii?)] enforce individualism, egoism and violence"

"There is no connection with their little friends from the neighborhood nor with the family. The kids sometimes get sick, they are captured by the machine"

"Most of these games are about violence, about killing"

"In movies, and the internet, there's a lot of poison for the minds of the youth. That is bad, bad, bad"

He suggested kids leave their Nintendos and opt for more traditional games like yo-yos and trompos.

Yeah, but only the very skilled can kill a hooker with a yo-yo.

Yeah, specially when his slogan "patria, socialismo o muerte" is violent by definition ("country, socialism or death").

Speaking of hypocrisy, remember when Al and Tipper Gore tried to end Jello Biafra's career because he put a Geiger print in the liner notes for 'Frankenchrist'? Something about trafficking in harmful matter, if memory serves. It was the bad old days of almost 2 decades ago.

Hugo Chavez also has an ongoing war against the dangerous and seditious sport of golf.

Hugo Chávez looms large over golf in Venezuela

Venezuelan golf fairways, bunkers and greens have become both the stage of an ideological war headed by President Hugo Chávez and a showcase for the Bolivarian revolution's internal contradictions.

After a 70-year presence in the country, golf is now the target of criticism and attacks by Chávez administration leaders and organizations.

Official measures may result in the closing of more golf courses. In the past five years, the number of courses in Venezuela has gone down to 22 from 28, and three more courses may be in line to be closed as well, according to directors of the Venezuelan Golf Federation (VGF).
This exchange is rich;

Quote:
``Let's be very clear about it: golf is a bourgeois sport,'' Chávez said in a recent TV appearance in which he proposed using 74 acres of a golf course in Maracay, state of Aragua, to build popular housing.

Questioned by Chávez, the governor of Aragua and former secretary of the treasury, Rafael Isea, admitted that he played golf regularly on that course.

Chávez: ``You now play golf, Isea?''

Isea: ``I played golf some time ago, my commander. But I no longer play.''

Chávez: ``You played golf?''

Isea: ``Yes.''

Chávez: ``Who plays golf here now?''

Nobody responded.

Governor Isea is not the only confessed golfer. Without admitting it publicly, other officials and government supporters share a passion for golf.
The video is in youtube, the "Who plays golf here now" part is awesome, with everybody kind of just looking down not wanting to answer.

I was never someone who actively disliked Chavez, but after this... no one attacks videogames and gets away with it! Given the fact that the violent ones are often the best, (though all videogames are art) he could not be acting in a more rediculous manner. If he took the time to play one he'd know that. Or maybe he is a gamer but is just a hypocrite who is fond of telling others what to do

To be fair, golf is a pretty egregious waste of land and water, as well as a magnet for douchebags.

If you'll excuse me, it's time for me to make another slave raid on Little Lamplight in Fallout 3. The precious little scamps are just so valuable!

At least baseball players have to run every so often.

The only time I've seen a golfer run is when someone said his car was being towed. It's barely a notch above bowling on the "sporting" chain. Maybe below - in bowling, the BAR doesn't come to YOU.

Are you cleverly making fun of Hugo Chavez' weight? Damn, that's mean.

You don't need ridiculous amounts of water to keep a baseball diamond n good shape. Golf is a big "fuck you" to the environment.

Hey just to let the anti-Golf brigade, I don't play golf. First time ever was on my recent trip to Edinburgh, and that was just to hit balls on the range.

My point was to highlight that Chavez is on more than just an anti-video game mood lately, to the dismay of his own cabinet members, who now have to pretend they don't like golf in the first place.

To be fair to Chavez while I don't know if gaming wastes land or water, they are defently a magnet for douchebags.
