With electronics, I find it hard to find a single site that does the job. Maybe someone else has a better solution, but I tend to use a pretty broad set of sites, and when I find a tv/computer/phone/speaker/receiver/etc. that looks good, I check it at all of the major sites and look for correlations.

Just using sites like cnet, amazon, online brick and mortar sites (like best buy), newegg, tigerdirect, etc. to compile reviews really helps. Also, check out AVSforum and at least skim the thread on any model you are considering.

I think it might be hard to pick a model this way, but I think this works really well as a well to decide if a model you picked is good or not.

Hope that helps a little. With the massive number of tv (and other electronics) manufacturers and types made by each manufacturer, it can be rough to find a good, all-inclusive site that really breaks down a large percentage of the market.

Its a bit hard to navigate for a newbie but try avsforum.com. Search for the make/model you are interested in and there will be one to many threads with various user and expert reviews.

Ditto on AVSForum.com. There's a lot of info out there, so don't be overwhelmed, and people who are looking for different things will have different opinions on what's good and what's bad. And if you can, try to find the TV(s) that you're interested in somewhere where you can actually get up close and see the picture.

I got more detailed technical reviews from avsforum.

I'm a big fan of http://www.consumerreports.org I check that out before I go anywhere else for pretty much anything.

I discovered AVSForum.com shortly after my last post in this section and it was very helpful.

Also check out http://www.tweaktv.com/ for calibration settings. Takes most of the work out of calibrating the TV yourself.

Thanks for all the posts, guys! I really appreciate it.

I was getting ready to settle on the Sony KDL-52XBR9 tv, but a lot of people are saying the backlight issues are annoying at night

I use http://www.hdtvtest.co.uk/ they do very in depth reviews and are very critical. Now the names of the TVs they review might differ from the US counterparts but you should be able to figure out the models.
