Justin Townes Earle

I believe this artist was mentioned in the country thread but after listening to some of his stuff i really think he should get his own thread. I've listened to Yuma and Midnight At The movies and this guy is just incredible. I'm really curious where he goes net cause he's by far one of the best things in country music. He finger picking is great, his melodies are clear and very pretty and he has some really vibrant lyrics.

Great stuff. I would definitely suggest him.

Yeah, how 'bout the title track of Yuma? Damn I love that little story-song.

I first saw the guy as an opening act-- with Jason Isbell, I believe-- and he really stuck a chord with me. I've seen him perform a couple of times since then, and I've become quite a fan. Still need to buy his last album, though. Sounds like you like it? How would you compare it to YUMA?

just picked up his first LP The Good Life. Its really great. He's very traditional in both albums unlike his dad but it never feels gimmicky or ironic. Just a really great musician and storyteller. Anyone else a fan.

JTE's new album, HARLEM RIVER BLUES, is $3 via AmazonMP3 as I type this. It's been that price for over a day now, so it may go back up soon. Grab it now if you're a fan!

I think I can manage 3 bucks even if I've never heard the man sing.

It's a great album; I've been trying for a week to get the title song out of my head, and nothing doing.

An amazing week for new releases, but this and Mavis Staples are the two I'm replaying over and over.

Welp, JTE is going into rehab, and his tour is on hold.

Guess he was serious about having been in jail...

Sorry for missing the radio Louisville. I was in jail! We will be making the show at headliners though. Free again!!!

Harlem River Blues remains near the top of my 2010 listening pile, so I'm really looking forward to seeing him in February. Hopefully he can hold it together that long!
