Saturday Night Live Season 35.

Casey Wilson and Michaela Watkins are gone.

I know Casey Wilson wasn't the most popular, but I thought she was pretty sharp. I liked what I got to see of Watkins. I'm perpetually amazed how Kenan Thompson keeps dodging the bullet. It's gotten to the point where I've just resigned to flip channels during his bits.

Every era needs its Horatio Sanz.

Given the amount of comedians of any ethnicity who would give their left pinky to get a slot on SNL, you would think that Lorne Michaels would realize that it actually does fill itself.

Wilson was awful but Watkins had potential.
Goddamnit, Casey Wilson was hot.

Oh yeah, and she was kinda funny too.
Has Kristen Wiig been considered "broken out" yet btw?

Abby Elliot is ten times hotter and, more importantly, funnier.
At least Lorne's still calling it Saturday Night Live. Not Kristen Wiig Live.

I'm sure Casey will miss the paycheck, but she was barely on the show anyway.
I've seen her do a few amusing bits on Funny or Die, but Wilson was always awful on SNL. I liked Watkins, though - maybe even a little more than Elliot. Too bad.
Imagine living with the stigma of "Not Good Enough to be on SNL".

It's like being dumped by Courtney Love.
I thought both were funny & talented. With all the dead wood on the show, they were hardly the problem. I loved Watkins' Huffington impression & the Today Show sketch.

Someone please show Darrell Hammond the door. At this point, the hanging on has moved past a little embarrassing and actually gotten sad.

What has Elliot done apart from her Angelina? Which is all about make-up and wardrobe anyway.

I am surprised they let Watkins go as she started to get more and more screentime as the season went on. Wilson was always awful and Elliot wasn't ever in anything.

In other news, they ARE bringing on some new talent:

"The two newcomers will reportedly be Jenny Slate, who has appeared in the "7th Floor West" series of sketches on Late Night with Jimmy Fallon, and the Iranian-born Nasim Pedrad, who had a one-woman show called Me, Myself, and Iran at The Comedy Festival in Las Vegas a couple of years ago."

Robert Downey Jr. did alright.
Also see David Koechner. The guy was only on one season of SNL and he now seems to be working constantly in film and television.
You can also add Jim Carrey, John Goodman and Julia Louis-Dreyfuss to that list. And almost Eddie Murphy.

Aww, sad URL:

'SNL' star denies she was fired over weight

"I had an amazing time on 'SNL,' and these rumors are completely untrue," Wilson, 28, tells PEOPLE in an exclusive statement.

"And to clarify, the issue isn't that I'm too fat, it's that I'm too phat. Can I get a WHAT-WHAT!"

That sentence right there is why she was fired.

And Larry David. Sort of.

You take that back. The man singlehandedly saved the shitty Cougars Club sketch with nothing but his eyeballs.

This is true. It's probably the only time I've found him funny.

So they're gonna pretend that Poehler is still on the show by doing these primetime events? You sly NBC!

Not unlike Tina Fey doing the Palin bits last fall, I suppose.
SNL might suck pretty hard nowadays but Bill Hader's James Carville bit was fucking gold.
Yeah, Hader as Carville was awesome from the Joe Wilson kidnapping with "Eyes Wide Shut Guys in Tuxedoes and beak masks" to "You ain't tall midget...you just clever" it fuckin' killed.

Too bad Wiigs Madonna grinded the show to a halt.

As did Fat Albert's terrible performance as Michael Steele reading cue cards badly. But yeah, "You ain't tall midget...you just clever" had me laughing hard enough to miss the next few lines.
The opening sketch and Carville were both really great, the weekend update jokes were okay, but the other two main bits were both crap.

Hader is terrific.
Great start by Nasim Pedrad. Saying fuck on your very first SNL. Charles Rocket would be proud.
Watching it wash over her was pretty brutal..

But I mean.. that was about a 50/50 chance of happening. Lorne might of known better.
Dear god, that was a rough way to start the season. Doesn't bode well.

And that slip-up during the 'Biker Chick' sketch....man, sort of gutwrenching to watch her tank her career during her first-ever sketch. Hopefully (albeit unlikely, I'd imagine) Lorne will take pity on her.
So, uh, Megan Fox didn't really mention Jennifer's Body.
I guess everyone is going to pretend that it never existed.
Just getting to the 1st U2 preformance and this is pretty shitty so far. What the fuck was that digital short?
Rocket getting fired for the F-bomb was a looooong time and much stricter standards ago. I can't imagine they'd can the poor girl after her first appearance, when it was obviously a completely unintentional slip.

I wouldn't even mention it but there's literally nothing else to talk about in this episode, except for NBC cutting off the end of fu--fricking "Ultraviolet".
post f-bomb face = priceless.

The F-bomb was fuckin' hilarious.

The show was meh, but I loved the second Digital Short with the Transformers roommates. Beautiful.
second digital short was funny and the F-Bomb was pretty good. the rest...not so good. and why is Bono swinging from a hot pink mic?
It was awkward enough to sit through without noticing. Since the last person who said it killed himself, perhaps they'll go easy. Michaels obviously likes the drama of firing.

I like the writing in the singles line sketch. It got audible laughs I think because its rate of joke delivery was at a Daily Show clip. Once the set-up was over, there was a new joke every three seconds. With the sketch format, you have to wait as the performers shuffle around the fake restaurant, talk/game show, or airplane.

Myers had a protective arm around Slate during the goodbyes. Also I liked the first digital short. It was a nerd's fantasy of rejecting Megan Fox.
Looks like they edited the audio for West Coast. We got that face but no bad words.

yeah, we got a very unconvincing "freaking" looped in. hilarious!

I don't think she'll get axed for it, that sketch was a minefield, not too shocking she slipped.
and while there is a definite throughline from charles rocket, it's a different situation. That seemed to just be the excuse they needed to restart the show, as the rest of the cast and doumanian went with him, save for piscopo and eddie murphy.

and Jean K. Jean! I defiantly like kenan's work on snl. bring on the hate!

Cheri Oteri said "fuck" a few years back and they just played it off at the end of the show by making her put money in a swear jar.
If this is what they put out for the season premiere, the rest of the season is gonna suck worse than usual. There was not one good sketch here and the premiere is generally loaded with all their best stuff.
That audible-but-accidental F-bomb was in no way more risque than the censored likes of last season's 'Mother Lover' digital short (which, like 'Dick In a Box' before it, NBC made instantly available online anyway) or even 'Jizz In My Pants'. SNL has been flirting with foul language for some time now, so it would be hypocritical of Lorne if he came down too hard on the new lass. Unless it was for being unfunny.
The Khaddafy intro felt like it was 15 minutes long.
It was still the best part of the show.

Norm MacDonald also did the same during Weekend Update once. Nobody made a big deal out of that incident.

The local newscaster who hilariously advised his sports guy to "Keep Fucking That Chicken" still has a job. Probably more of a job now.
As crap as the show was, Fox seemed to acquit herself by not embarrassing herself. She was also the glue that held the one good sketch together (Live Lounge).
Ha. I worked last night, and was gonna just catch the repeat. Glad I decided to tape it.

Ernie Anastos was a goddamn legend way before that gaffe, sir.
