Goblin it Up

Not sure if I should put this here or in the Shameless Links thread, but whatever.

Along with my in progress Faster Pussycat! Kill! Kill! Musical (music mostly done, lyrics mostly not even touched), and my personal music, I've started making up little solo covers of Goblin songs. Hopefully the bad pun title makes it clear how un-serious I am about the whole thing.

Here's the original Suspiria title theme.

And here's my version: Suspiria di Nuovo

Here's the original Tenebre title theme.

And here's my version: Profondo Tenebre.

Thanks for indulging me.

Is that all you Gabe? I really like Profondo Tenebre.

Good stuff Gabe. I enjoyed it.

I can't listen right now, but I kind of can't wait to.

Thanks guys! It's all me Chris, in that I'm playing all the guitars and keyboards, and that I programmed simple drums in Reason.

Some of those drum loops sound very "real". I say this as a guy who normally can't stand sequencers or fake drum sounds, I really liked them.

I used the 'heavy drums' patch in Reason, then filtered them in Garage Band until they sounded kind of realish. The crash gives it away. Then I added a few keyboarded drums during the break (the toms). I did those by hand using a midi keyboard.

These are very well-done, Gabe (and I'm a big Goblin fan, and picky when it comes to their music!)

I just got an MP3 copy of 'Back to Goblin', the reunion from 05 or whatever, and it's pretty great, much better than that crappy rock group Simonetti was with semi-recently.

and thank you very much, by the way.

Your Tenebre is pretty badass, really captures the spirit of the original. But both are great.

Here's my take on the Profondo Rosso main title.

The original
and mine: Medio Rosso.

I'm working on Phenomena now, but it may be outside my limited range as a musician...

Okay, hoping that a Goblin fan in this thread can help me. There is a brief clip of a metal song in the Nazi Zombies game on COD: World at War. If I remember correctly, it plays when you die sometimes. Anyway, I haven't been able to find out who it is and I've been wondering if it's a Goblin song or not. Anyone?

EDIT: I indulged and checked out your versions Gabe. Well done, rude of me to not mention it before I went on about the game.

I'm afraid I don't play many video games. If it's metal it might be off their 2005 album, but even that isn't too heavy. Claudio Simonetti was in a group called Daemonia that did metal covers of the his Goblin songs. It could be them.

All of the covers are fantastic. Great work!

Those covers are great. I love that stuff. I have I think everything Goblin ever released. Plus a ton of other stuff like John Harrison, Fabrio Frizzi, John Carpenter. I have ZOMBIE and DAWN OF THE DEAD on LP. All of it I've dumped into my ipod. When we took the kids trick or treating last night I hooked a speaker to the stroller to play The Fog soundtrack

Very cool

The rest of Goblin's stuff is proving too complicated for my limited musical abilities. I've been looking at Frizzi's stuff now. It's much simpler.
