24 Hour of LeMons this Weekend

If any of you went to the Red Bull Soapbox races imagine what it would be like with fire and explosions. That is pretty much what the 24 Hours of LeMons is. We are running in our third 14 hour amateur endurance car race this weekend in Kershaw, SC. If you are looking for something to do this weekend you should come on up. It is worth it to just sit in the pits and what the Judges punish the miscreants.

Sorry, no concert at this one that I know of. They did have a band playing last year. Just an excuse to dress up in funny clothes and drive race cars.

Point. We use them for racing and they were once cars. The racing is no fooling. Nothing pretend about it, but "race cars" in the Formula 1 sense they are not. A term they use on Jalopnik is hoon. I don't know if we qualify for that either. Until the English language adds a word to describe what we do I'm going to stick with race car.

I probably wouldn't call it hooning since it's on a track and fairly responsible. Still, it should be great. I've read about the race for a couple years now and it always sounds like a good time.

Yeah, sorry. I don't quite have the millions of dollars needed to make it over to France for the big race.

Sadly, about 6 hours in our serpentine belt let go and it took out some wiring and sensors on the side of the motor along with the timing belt. We don't think we did any permanent damage to the engine (we hope), but that was it for us. Putting in a new timing belt pretty much means pulling the tranny and motor and we were not set up for that.

I'll try and get some pictures posted in the next day or so. We had a great time and all four of our drivers got time in the car. For me that makes the weekend a success. We were running 15th or so out of 104 cars at the time of the failure.
