Vintage vending machine rubber alien aardvarks/anteaters?

I've been on a nostalgia kick (mostly for my blog) for cheapo dimestore/vending/gumball/party-favor oddities from my childhood. Monster finger puppets, MUSCLE wrestlers, Wacky Wallwalkers, Squirmles, etc. I vaguely remember some odd rubber critter that looked straight from the planet Koozebane or a D&D monster manual. Like a creepy-crawling rubber elephant with a long nose and tail, but no ears? Various shapes, colors, etc.

Very much like these, without the windup action. Anyone have any info on this crappy little beast? What they were called, where to find them? I've done a million ebay searches.

I'm going to have to get my Mom to ship me my old toybox from the attic. Going on memory alone sucks.

EDIT: I've got to get ahold of these lil POCKET MONSTER bastards as well...

RUBBER UGLIES? Wow, these are great. I want em. I love the Basil Wolverton/Big Daddy Roth style drawings. Apparently went along with these Topps trading cards.



#16 (Dave) sorta resembles the lil aardvark guys I remember.

Apparently this type of vintage rubber toys are called "jigglers".

I remember these as well, but I'll be damned if I can't remember what they were called. Came out a LOT around Halloween.

The best thing I ever got out of a vending machine was a set of four rubber dudes hanging in shackles. They were quite gruesome. My cat ate them, and I can't find an internet image of them.

I had the pink dude hanging upsidedown with the foot shackles (got him at the Bushkill Falls in elementary school field trip). Got him along with a couple of these...




These old Monster Men Trolls are simultaneously sad and kickass.

Seriously Darkmite, I think finding images on the internet may be your mutant power. Those are exactly what I was talking about. I had the four in that second pic. I found them as recently as 2001 or 02. Then my cat ate them. Literally.

Also, the Flexifaces genuinely disturbed me when I was a kid.

I'm completely fascinated with the grim brown prisoner in the green leafy tunic. He looks like a mix of Calibos and some mutie from the Forbidden Zone.

PS Those Germs are great BTW. I don't remember those. Remind me of Freakies though...





EDIT: I also loved these Happy Meal alien/monsters as a kid. INVASION OF THE SAUCERMEN!

They actually came in test tubes. And they were cheap, so mom would buy them on road trips.

I have those four monster looking guys in chains you were talking about and I believe there are really 5 of them. They are some kind of ghoulie. I can't remember what they were called but you can buy them on eBay! That's where I got mine. They are kind of hard to find and I paid $20 for my set...however there was a guy on there trying to sell them for $45 each! DONT do that! Just get on eBay and look for vintage jiggly toys and they may show up again. Best wishes! I'm trying to find out what else is out there! As a young girl I STILL loved the monstery and glow in the dark stuff! If I find anything else, I will let you know!
