The 9/12 Million Moran March

Well today's the day for the big tea party in Washington. Organizers said they were expecting 1-2 million to show up and from what I gather from various reports, it looks like for the big national tea party march on Washington, only 25K showed up. Not a small number but keep in mind, that's a Tuesday for one of Obama's local rallies.

And just from scanning the crowd, it seems like no minorities showed up for this party at all. Very telling.

Moran! Classic!

I have been pronouncing it Mo-ran lately just because of that man and his sign.

and... 1 to 2 million people? Surely that was hype and not something they really expected. I went to DC 1/20/09 for the event, and that was only 1.8 million.

The idea people would go in those numbers to an event centered around the idea that the President is not an American is pretty silly. Not saying there are not enough racists and fools, but they are generally less motivated than that (one would hope).

Whatever would cause them to stay away? Why should images of black people being lynched and racial slurs on placards bother them?

You know, if there was ever a time to pray for a mass casualty event on US soil...

Mothers Against Drunk Driving should sponsor a new drinking game. Every time you see a photo of a Tea Party crowd and can spot someone who isn't white, you drink. Everyone would stay safe and sober.

Listening to the speeches and talk about vague and unspecified anger. The refrain seems to be that your freedoms are being taken away. That we need to take America back. That America is on the verge of Socialist collapse. Mike Pence said something about the word Czar not being found in the Constitution and that we need to get rid of the Czars.

It really feels like the speeches are meant to be Rorshach tests for the attendees as to what freedoms are being taken away and what "take our country back" is supposed to mean. It's also worth noting that the African Americans who have shown up have to go through the whole "I'm not here as a black person" schtick so as to not make the whites uncomfortable.

Never have I seen such furious anger that was so fucking vague. That's been the takeaway for me so far. I'm watching this so you don't have to. Please hit me with a green box.

.
1) is he aware there are no such positions as czars in our government? The so called drug czar is actually called the head of national drug and something policy or whatever. The whole czar thing is a nickname

2) A nick name started by nixon

Yeah the Czar thing is lame. It's shorthand for policy wonks hired by the Whitehouse. Whatever.

Curious thing. Not one helicopter shot showing the crowd size.

They just did a pan of the crowd. Probably 20,000 there.
Aren't these the same people who just over a year ago were giving 'filthy libruls' the "If you don't like America then you can just GET OUT" speech?
So these people who have been allowed to peacefully assemble and complain about the government are saying their liberties are being taken away?

Are these people retarded? Is that their problem?

Seriously, fuck em. Even if they had a legitimate claim to make, they're entirely too fucking crazy and stupid to deserve the amount of attention that gets given to them.
A lot of these teabaggers are pretty ugly looking as well. I'm not sure I've seen so many ugly people happening to show up all at once together, so as to be noticeable.

Another thing is that I'll be damned if I could find one person in that crowd under the age of 40. So we have old, white, and retarded. I wonder if these secessionists know that when they break from the Union, their Medicare and SS are going to stop or are they assuming those payments will still keep coming in? I imagine if states do ratify secession, that they'll want to come back in like 2 weeks.

Did they bring the horse shit with them or did they bring a horse for this specific purpose?

To be fair, that seems to be an example of dyslexia, and not stupidity.

A police horse came across and pooped so these people just used that to cover an Obama sign.

Did anyone actually spell out the whole purpose of this march? Did I miss someone saying "these are the specific policies that made us come out today"? There was one lady who kept saying "Congress, can you hear us now? Obama, can you hear us now?" My question is, "Yes we can hear you, but you're not making any fucking sense. What do you want?"
Dynamotv, It is simple...actually. People are protesting...Obamacare. The protesters want congress to disappove the current health care plan, and re do it in...bipartisan fashion. I was at the march, and it was a peaceful protest. It is a...Tea Party, not a party with...Tea Baggers.

If they weren't so ugly, they would get laid and not be so pissy.

That's the thing about the ignorant and stupid, you can get them to rally against their own interests quite easily. That makes them very useful to certain people.

I know it goes without saying, but that kid has NO idea who Joe McCarthy was. Do conservatives have no memories anymore? McCarthy was anti-army. Isn't that half their supposed problem with The President?

Actually...McCarthy is known as the Commie Hunter. As stupid and as irritating as these douchebags are, if they're going with the socialism/communism bullshit, they probably would want to invoke McCarthy's name.

As this is a film site, I would hope that you're aware of the blacklisting of "suspected" communist-supporting film directors during McCarthy's era, or at least be familiar with the movie Good Night, and Good Luck.
Actually, she's right. It was McCarthy going after the armed forces that pretty much brought him low.
Apparently the Million Cracker March coincided with the National Black Family Reunion. I wonder if they'll post pictures of the people attending the NBFR to say "Look, it wasn't all white people at this thing!"

But his name is connected to the communist witch hunts, right? And I'm assuming this is what the people producing the t-shirts are going after.

For instance, Wikipedia states the following in their summary of McCarthy:

Quote:
Joseph Raymond McCarthy (November 14, 1908 – May 2, 1957) was an American politician who served as a Republican U.S. Senator from the state of Wisconsin from 1947 until his death in 1957. Beginning in 1950, McCarthy became the most visible public face of a period in which Cold War tensions fueled fears of widespread Communist subversion.[1] He was noted for making claims that there were large numbers of Communists and Soviet spies and sympathizers inside the United States federal government and elsewhere. Ultimately, McCarthy's tactics and his inability to substantiate his claims led him to be censured by the United States Senate. The term "McCarthyism," coined in 1950 in reference to McCarthy's practices, was soon applied to similar anti-communist pursuits. Today the term is used more generally to describe demagogic, reckless, and unsubstantiated accusations, as well as public attacks on the character or patriotism of political opponents.[2]

Born and raised on a Wisconsin farm, McCarthy earned a law degree at Marquette University in 1935 and was elected as a circuit judge in 1939, the youngest in state history.[3] At age 33, McCarthy volunteered for the United States Marine Corps and served during World War II. He successfully ran for the United States Senate in 1946, defeating Robert M. La Follette, Jr. After several largely undistinguished years in the Senate, McCarthy rose suddenly to national fame in February 1950 when he asserted in a speech that he had a list of "members of the Communist Party and members of a spy ring" who were employed in the State Department.[4] McCarthy was never able to prove his sensational charge.

In succeeding years, McCarthy made additional accusations of Communist infiltration into the State Department, the administration of President Truman, Voice of America, and the United States Army. He also used charges of communism, communist sympathies, or disloyalty to attack a number of politicians and other individuals inside and outside of government. With the highly publicized Army–McCarthy hearings of 1954, McCarthy's support and popularity began to fade. On December 2, 1954, the Senate voted to censure Senator McCarthy by a vote of 67 to 22, making him one of the few senators ever to be disciplined in this fashion. McCarthy died in Bethesda Naval Hospital on May 2, 1957, at the age of 48. The official cause of death was acute hepatitis; it is widely accepted that this was exacerbated by alcoholism.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Joe_mccarthy

I'm not saying this vindicates these protestors, but having statements about McCarthy on their t-shirts is not illogical based on their idiotic assumption that Obama is a communist/socialist.
What BW said. McCarthy's history as a "Commie-hunter" is worth its weight in gold to these dolts.
Heck, aside from the assertion that Obama is a Communist (he's barely even LIBERAL!), the shirt does seem to accurately describe the opposition's response: bullshit demagoguery in the classic, McCarthy style.
Yeah, McCarthy went after Communists. He was also pretty much revealed as an over-reactive loon. It's a stupid sentiment regardless of how you look at it.
You guys have McCarthy all wrong: http://www.conservapedia.com/Joseph_Mccarthy

Oh, and from the front page:

Quote:
Nearly 2 million patriotic citizens rallied at the nations capitol for the 9/12 TEA Party 'March on Washington'. They were protesting Barack Hussein Obama and the Democrats foolish and damaging role as wealth distributor. People were chanting "enough, enough" and "We the People." Others yelled "You lie, you lie!" and "Pelosi has to go," referring to California congresswoman Nancy Pelosi. [9]
So, essentially, "We're against the things we're against!"

Oh My God

You know how a main line of attack among the racists and nuts ever since the campaign has been "He is communist!" "He is socialist!" "He is Marxist!" (I will not even get in to the fact these things do not all mean the same thing)

Well on the Huffington Post home page, as some astute chewers had already mentioned, they're featuring photos of the 9/12 racists.

One man is holding a sign.

The sign reads, "Obama(the O forming a hammer and sickle ) has more Czars than the U.S.S.R.!"

Do these people lack even that basic, fundamental understanding of WHAT THE FUCK THEY'RE TALKING ABOUT?

Having even just one Czar is more Czars ---

Actually, hold on. I'm going to really confuse them, from now on, I'm busting out Tsars!

Like I was saying, even a single Tsar is more Tsars than the USSR had. That is the entire reason there was a USSR. The soviets got rid of the Tsars.

Do they not understand that? I mean, I've seen the statistics for just how ignorant Americans are, and it's depressing....... But after all these long months of people getting wicked freaked out about communism, do they really not even have that basic level of knowlege? That man's sign is saying Obama is LESS communist than communist russia. While that is a factual statement to be making, I doubt it was the statement he intended to make

I knew what the USSR was when I was 3. The USSR was still around then, and judging by the average age of a Tea Bagger (Sorry, couldn't resist) , it was sure around when they were alive as well.

Well, unless you count the children dressed up in adorable racist t shirts by their parents. But you get my point.
Plus the fact that Bush had more czars than Obama has.
