I would hope so. However, even as they demonstrate the extreme elements that comprise their so called movement by having these people with the ugly hate signs show up, they have an entire element in the media backing them up.
Fox News in general and Glen Beck specifically --and other racists of that sort -- are continuing to promote these events and story lines even after the people involved show up with frightening, ugly behavior and props. Dragging an Obama sign through horse shit? What the eff is that about? Do none of these networks even pretend to have any respect for the office of the President anymore? I thought bush was a war criminal, but I felt he should be tried in a court of law and removed from office by the congress. Why has fox suddenly abandoned any pretense of respect for President Obama, I cannot help but see race in this. I think certain people feel entitled to disrespect him because of his race.
These 9 12 people and their financial backers are openly advocating/threatening civil war... and they've being backed by incredibly main stream people. Eric Cantor is the minority whip in the house, and he talked at this 9 12 thing. It is organized in part by people who predict and welcome civil war in the united states.
Um, the civil war was the bloodiest and most unnecessary (yes, more than Iraq. How about you just not enslave anyone in the first place?) war in our history. I have relatives who fought to keep the values of the constitution as the binding force on this continent. This cheerful talk of civil war quite frankly disgusts me, as I would imagine it does many other Americans. The south needs to realize no one else thinks civil war is 'cute'
Where and how is the line drawn on this kind of "protest"? Many of the photos on the Huffington Post home page show people holding signs that are basically threats.
This has not been self correcting so far. Will some outside power perhaps privately force republicans to publically repudiate this kind of vile hate mongering? Or at the least.... stop speaking as guests of honor at their rallies?
