Wow, what a dick.
All I can say is I hope he learns some humility after this shameful debacle. I do not know how he got the idea that being prideful was somehow 'Cool'.

Hahahahahahahahahahahahahahaa

Damn, that's gotta be a first in televised awards history no?

If you mean Kanye making an ass of himself, then no it's not.

I don't know why I still get shocked at youtube comments, but Jesus (walks).
You gotta love it though somebody still speaks from his soul.
Mtv hates black people?

Seriously it's a shame that Kanyes talent is so undeniable because he's easily one of the most unlikeable douche's in American music today.

That Beyonce video (and the song) is pretty terrible anyway.

When MCA did it it was funny, mainly because the award recipient seemed as amused by it as everyone else. This, not so much, mainly because the Taylor Swift girl seems pretty legitimately bummed.

Also, yes, the Youtube comments read like the minutes at a Klan meeting...
Kanye West needs a babysitter. Maybe just someone sitting next to him with one of those leashes they make for kids, and every time he tries to stand up and make an ass of himself his handler just tugs down and says "NO" in a stern voice.

Why do people even still invite Kanye West to awards shows anyways?

Replying to Gravedigger:
"That Beyonce video (and the song) is pretty terrible anyway. "
Well, so was Ms. Swift's. I'm just sayin'.
Oh, I know it was different circumstances, a joke.

And if I had any clue who or what Taylor Swift is, I might feel bad for her.

A subspecies of bird. The Taylor Swift.

Like the Darwin Finch or whatever
She doesn't sing country music that's for sure.
Really tho does it matter if her music is your kinda thing or if you even know who she is? She was obviously really chuffed to win the award, West literally bursts in and interrupts her and then Mtv (no doubt in a cowardly bid to avoid controversy) literally start playing the next segment while the poor girl - who only got about 15 seconds of her acceptance speech out - gets removed from the stage looking basically too shocked to even have a teary.

It was pretty fucked thing whether you're a fan of the girl or not.
Yes. But entertaining. In a Christians to the lions kinda way.

Boo-hoo!

What West did was Hip-Hop.

Who wants Rap Artists to be polite, boring pussies?

That's kinda dumb. How many times has Jay-Z, Common, Mos Def, et al pulled some shit like that? Kanye's a prick. It's got nothing to do with "hip-hop."

You can be bad ass and polite. In fact some time people who are teh most bad ass are the most polite.

In addition, it is a show to come together and celebrate eachothers work. I find it just incredibly rude and juvenial. Just don't come Kanye, if you are trying to turn it into something thats all about you.

I like his music. Not my favorite, but he is pretty good.

I'll allow some may think he is the best musician today.

However...

He plays no instrument. He has written no music that has moved me the way other music I've heard has. There is plenty of great music out there, and frankly for him to get in everyone's face about how he thinks he is the best there is, it makes me like and respect him alot less.

Even if he WERE the best there was, I'd expect him to keep low key about it. THATS cool.

Regardless of whether you're the best or not, being an asshole is being an asshole. If you do not see Kanye's antics as part of a general degeneration of American thought and dialog, then I cannot help you.

I see a clear line between Kanye thinking his public disrespect is OK, and Congressman Joe "Racist Fuckface" Wilson's shameful and cowardly outbursts at our President, Barack Obama.

This is true. Pricks are funny in self important situations like these "awards" shows. Taylor will dust herself off and take solace in the obscene amounts of money and praise she receives. This incident will be a drop in the bucket.
Well, if more shit like this did happen, I might watch one of these things again.

And Elvis, calling out the (former) president to the horror of Mike Myers is what you're looking for, not spouting off about some shitty video from Beyonce.

Kate, lighten up. Some guy disrupting a mastubatory awards show is nowhere near the same thing as the Obama speech bullshit. I'm beginning to doubt you're a real princess.
You realize he was saying Beyonce was better than Swift here right?

Hip-Hop used to be dangerous. Now, nobody wants to make waves. West doesn't give a fuck, that's what I love about him.

I cheered when Ol Dirty Bastard pulled the same stunt back in the day.

He knowingly pissed off MTV, the suburbs, and cost himself money. But he still did it. right or wrong, t's the type of middle finger gesture ya don't see anymore.

Oooooh ... he was being so edgy! Uuuuhhh ... He was DDDDDANGEROUS!!!

He was being an ass, embarrassed himself, embarrassed Beyonce and ruined the moment for another artist.

But no, he was being brave, BECAUSE SOMEBODY HAS TO FIGHT SOCIAL INJUSTICE AT THE VMA AWARDS! That's important!!! He is now at the level of MLK, Cesar Chavez, and Oscar Romero!!!

I am light! I don't really care about Kanye, and the Obama thing where he got shouted at feels like a gut punch every time I watch it.

They are no where near the same thing, but I was saying I think they both are symptoms of the same thing: The degeneration of civility and respect in this country.

I was actually responding to Princess Kate. Should have quoted but it takes too long to edit down her novel length comments to something approaching two or three lines. Sorry for the confusion. And all these videos and songs are shitty for the most part. I'm just sayin'.

Fuck that bullshit, being 'hip hop' was West actually making a political point off script about Bush like he did, this is simply him being a fucking loudmouth asshole shitting on one pop princess to crow about another pop princess. It's hardly Public Fucking Enemy.

Hip Hop used to actually be the black communities answer to punk, in that it had something relevant to say that the mainstream may not have known or wanted to hear. This is just West being an arrogant fucktard. To try and compare it to when hiphop mattered is a fucking insult to the old school.

Lay off Elvis. He's basically right, these people are all boring anymore.

did he not learn anything from South Park?

If this is a grammar thing, I apologize, but let's be honest, it will happen again.

Also, hip hop lost most of its credibility the moment cameras started rolling on Krush Groove. It's been a commodity much longer than it was an interesting art form.

I'm also aware of the exceptions, but bullets usually take care of them.
It's cool.
He took the VMAs and MTV outside the safety net for one for one hot minute. That's Hip-Hop. That's Rock N Roll.

Fuck politeness. Swift's a plastic artist getting an undeserved award, and he called the show on it. Unless you're, Swift's mother who cares?

I mean, shit like this (Nirvana taunting Axle, ) is the only thing that ever made the show (somewhat) cool.
Sounds like your beef is with MTV and the over commercialisation of music essentially.

That doesn't actually change or negate Wests epic douchiness.
Perhaps it was "anyway".
Whatever happened to the rapper you could take home to mom!?

I write as much as I may need to in order to get my point accross. At times so far on the forum people have misinterpreted what I meant to say, and this has at times lead to agitation, indeed on occasion even bitter acrimony. Now I am taking the path of utmost caution and precaution, reading fully 40% of my posts over for editing and re-editing a second or even third time. Employing my full vocabulary in order to more clearly and plainly craft my thoughts into precise and edifying sentences.

It is my sincere hope this leads to greater illumination on the issues at hand, and endows me with a deeper capacity for meaningful conversation with the rest of the Chud-munity (c)

And Beyonce is so authentic, non-plastic (boobs?), edgy and DDDDDDANGEROUS!!!

If Swift had punched him the face, then that would have been getting out of the "safety net".
