Never said I liked Swift. As far as adjectives to describe her go, plastic is perfect. Felt it was a sad and shameful day when she graced the cover of Rolling Stone. Though when she is in the company of the Jonas Brothers and Greenday appearing as well in the same calendar year, what can you do.
Whether she deserved to win or not is irrelevant. Point is, he's a classless bastard who took a shit all over this young lady's moment, and any decent person could see that humiliating this girl on worldwide television for no reason other than to run his big fucking mouth was wrong. The poor girl was crying uncontrollably backstage afterwards, from what Rolling Stone and MTV said. It was WRONG. End of story.

I applaud Beyonce for stepping up at the end of the show and bringing Taylor back onstage to have her moment. At least someone in that room has some class and respect.

I'm guessing she felt a touch responsible even if she didn't ask for the kind of 'defense' Kanye gave her. Thats the thing, his assholery was so complete she was probably scared it would rub off on her as well.

Class and respect--Yay!!!!

Damn we almost had a real ife celebrity deathmatch:

Quote:
According to a tweet from Jay-Z's DJ, Neil Armstrong, Swift and her mother were seen backstage crying afterward; Beyoncé brought Swift onstage for another chance at her acceptance speech later in the show. Various celebs have lashed out against West on Twitter, including Pink, who had to be escorted away from the rapper by security.
Kanye couldn't handle this being Michael Jackson's night. He had to walk away with people talking about him.
Neil Armstrong is DJ'ing for Jay-Z now? Damn, astronautin' just got more gangsta.
Haha, Pink. Can't wait for the video where she sublty rips into Kanye.

You're determined to miss the point on this aren't you.

Maybe if he'd gone off script for something other than defending a shitty video clip by another pop diva who happened to be his friend, like you know, making a statement about how ridiculous the VMA's in general are or about the Sudan or something of any kind of substance other than 'defending' Beyonce Knowles of all people, you may have the slightest point.

As it is as I said it's pretty obvious your beef is with the plastic commercialised nature of American music - that doesn't actually mean West was being in any way 'hip hop' rather than a fucking epically obnoxious asshole.

There is literally nothing hip hop about what West did.
That clip should've cut to black after the awkward moment of silence like an episode of the The Office (UK).

"So what becomes of you, my looooove... when they have finally stripped you oooooof..."
People, perspective.

Nobody cares about the MTV Awards anymore.

All this did is provide some amusement on a Sunday night. It's great, like Mad Men. Go Kanye.
Hey,people, Kanye is standing up for what he believes in! Just like Chuck D and KRS One, right?

Kanye will swarm
On any country singer with an MTV award

Since Obama got into office there is an element of our society that is waiting to jump on any black celebrity who acts rude/unprofessional/different/whatever you want to call it, especially if said rudeness involves a white person.

Serena Williams screamed at a line judge during a game at the US Open and alot of the comments over at huffington post resorted to racist ones. Now we have a black man rushing towards a young white woman showing disrespect, so it is no surprise that the racist comments are all over the place.

That element are the same ones who showed up at the moronic march in D.C. on 9/12.
It should also be pointed out that the MTV Awards have always showcased extreme douchebaggery from rockstars. Let's skip the racism and proclaim Kanye the last rockstar.

While I agree it's everywhere, I don't think Obama getting elected has brought it out of people, I think it just focused a camera on it.

I love that these sort of dumb stunts cause righteous indignation.

WHO FUCKING CARES, IT WAS THE MTV VIDEO MUSIC AWARDS.

In other actually important news, Jim Carroll died.

They got it wrong on both counts. Note the insert at the top of the cover.

Hilary was put through an electoral holocaust of massive proportions during the primaries at the hands of Master Politian and current President Of The United States, Barack "Best Orator of the Past 100 Years" Obama.

Kanye turned out to be full of juvenial vanity, and found his career defined by his boastfully prideful behavior. 'Class Act'. Time Magazine redefined Futurist Irony.

Fair enough but I have noticed an increase of racist comments at mainstream sites like HP when it involves a black celebrity doing something stupid. Before this year the tone of the comments were more against the celebrity instead of the skin color.

"politician" "juvenile" Keep on reviewing those posts, Princess.
That Serena Williams bit was great, she threatened to shove the tennis ball down the judge's throat.

My "favorite" racist comment on youtube about Kanye was about how he was the worst representative for his race. Thank god I don't have to get up every day and worry about representing white people, because I'm doing a piss poor job.

I was part of a generation in my state where the department of education experimented with teaching us spelling without teaching us phonics. I have always had a hard time with spelling and try to spell check when I can (this browser doesnt have one). With that said, I do not like to have my vocabularly limited only to the words I know how to spell. I figure if people can understand what I mean, that's better than being less clear simply because other words would be easier to spell.

EDIT: Oh, and I knew how to spell politician, "politian" was a typo:P

So...it's not your fault you can't spell? And it doesn't matter anyway? Got it. Sorry I brought it up. Keep telling us your thoughts and feelings. I'll parcel out the grain from the chaffe. So far I got enough for half a biscuit.

Fuck politeness. Swift's a plastic artist getting an undeserved award, and he called the show on it. Unless you're, Swift's mother who cares?

I mean, shit like this (Nirvana taunting Axle, ) is the only thing that ever made the show (somewhat) cool.
and he's the guy sitting in the third row at this award show. THAT's Hip-Hop.

then he put-down a teenager. Straight fuckin' Thug.

The only thing less hardcore than the VMAs, is making a little girl cry at them.

Ohh kanye
If nothing else this whole thing finally got me to clear out some of the people that I was Facebook friends with for no reason that I can comprehend.

"Go back to the cotton fields and listen to Taylor Swift all day you fucking dick."

Actual wording from somebody's status.

God I'd love to see Pink kick this loudmouth's ass.
Kanye's been on some real extra shit over the past year. And I think this was less about Beyonce or Taylor Swift, and more about the endless Jay Z dick riding.

Before the show:

I couldn't really give a fuck about either of them but Swift's reaction pretty much says it all, congrats Kanye, you made a popstar cry, at an awards show no-one cares about, ROCK'N'ROLL. WOOOOOO.

I can't help but wonder if he'd done that little stunt had it been anyone but Taylor Swift. Had it been Pink, they'd be loading his body in an ambulance right now.

Poor girl looked like she was fighting back tears. I felt really bad for her.

West took to his blog to deliver one of his familiar all-caps posts (edited into sentence case here) addressing the situation.

"I'm sooooo sorry to Taylor Swift and her fans and her mom," he wrote. "I spoke to her mother right after and she said the same thing my mother would've said. She is very talented! I like the lyrics about being a cheerleader and she's in the bleachers! I'm in the wrong for going on stage and taking away from her moment!

"Beyoncé's video was the best of this decade!!!! I'm sorry to my fans if I let you guys down!!!! I'm sorry to my friends at MTV. I will apologize to Taylor 2mrw. Welcome to the real world!!!! Everybody wanna booooo me but I'm a fan of real pop culture!!! No disrespect but we watchin' the show at the crib right now cause ... well you know!!!! I'm still happy for Taylor!!!! Boooyaaawwww!!!! You are very very talented!!! I gave my awards to Outkast when they deserved it over me ... That's what it is!!!!!!! I'm not crazy y'all, i'm just real. Sorry for that!!! I really feel bad for Taylor and I'm sincerely sorry!!! Much respect!!!!!"
Yeah, so fuckin hardcore. What a hip hop, rock'n'roll rebel.

We’re upgrading the site so we had to temporarily make it unavailable. Don’t worry, we’ll have everything put back together in a jiffy so please check back later
post #91 of 279
I could be wrong, but aren't most of us here on the boards (save Princess Kate) well over the target audience for the VMAs?

I'm trying valiantly to give a shit, but it's just not coming together. I'd rather watch James van der Beek play a religious psycho on Criminal Minds. Now THAT was entertaining.
Very telling that MTV keeps letting Kanye storm the stage year after year.
If you're defending him because you'd like more artists to act like total douches, that's one thing. But he wasn't standing up against something or calling out some bit of social hypocrisy. He was bitching about who won Best Female Video at the VMAs, in about the douchiest possible way. Which I grant is entertaining, but not in a 'fuck the power' way, just in a 'wow, what a douche' way.
I love Taylor Swift (when did plastic become a catch all insult for female singers you don't like? Ugh, you guys sometimes) and I'm so happy for her that she won an award (though to be totally fair, her video for that song kinda sucks. I love the song but if they're judging it on videos Beyonce possibly should have won, or Lady Gaga). I don't know what the fuck Kanye thought he would achieve by making a douche of himself on TV. I hope he's proud of himself, embarrassing a teenager in front of a huge audience.
Beyoncé is a beautiful gal, but she needs to stop with the tights. She looks like a sausage.
An entitled douche takes away a teenager's special moment in front of millions of people. Notch one up for hip-hop!
This whole Kanye thing is pretty retarded. It's like they don't expect when they let him in the building that he is going to do something stupid. In other VMA stuff I quite enjoyed Madonna's tribute to herself...wait, that was a tribute to Michael Jackson??? Are you sure? Cuz I'm pretty sure she just talked about herself...
Well, it has everyone talking, and probably made a lot of people not only a lot of money, but also an increase in viewers at the next awards show Kanye attends.

As they say, any publicity....

DING-DING-DING! We have a winner. Dude's realised he's nowhere near as prominent or important to the pop culture landscape as he believed he was, and needed to generate some hype, quick-snap.

Always was a douche, always will be.

And Elvis - how "rock and roll" was Kanye's big apology he posted after he realised NO ONE is on his side and tried to save face? Yeah, he's a rebel, that one.

No man, it's fucking RAP and HIP-HOP! It's realz! Fat Elvis* is so right! So hardcore! Now, can he better more "rap" and die in a drive-by shooting so the farce can finally end? Please?

*I don't really care about her, really, but if dissing a teen on stage for fucking Beyonce is what you call "rap", "dangerous" or whatever, you clearly missed the point, because West ain't one of these things. Talented, sure, even if I don't a shit about his music, but you're basically putting this attention-whore on the same pedestral as Tupac and others.

And that's as wrong and retarded as calling The Incredibles a failure, like you did before.
