Bored to Death - Page 3

This season was a rip-off. 9 episodes? I can see S1 getting a short order of episodes but S2 should have been 13. Isn't 13 pretty standard for HBO series?
Other then that this season was really great. Danson was fantastic and I love Oliver Platt constantly touching Jonathan. There were too many great moments to mention. Maybe next season HBO will pair it with Hung. That would make for a great hour.

It was paired with Eastbound and Down (which only had 7 episodes). How much better of a pairing could it have gotten?
Yeah I'm going to just say that I don't like Eastbound and leave it at that. I know that show has a pretty devoted fan base here but I'm not one of them.

I hear ya, the few episodes I saw weren't really my style.

Bored to Death is almost back! New episodes premiere October 10th at 9 on HBO. I'm so excited!

There's a lot of really good TV out right now but I think it's possible this is my favourite at the moment. It's so quirky and weird and yet a lot of people don't seem to have heard of it yet. I look forward to more high ramblings from George!

Bump. 6 days to go.

OH THANK GOD. I thought this great show was cancelled or something.

I be setting my DVR as we speak.

From the one TV spot I saw, this season looks like it'll be amazing.  I was dying just from the snippet of the exchange with Stacy Keach.

There were certain moments during the premiere that I had to pause the DVR because I was laughing so hard.

Great to have this show back once again.

Fun opener. I think what I love the most is simply the fact that it's so *different* from everything else on TV, and delights in going in weird tangential directions or throwing in unexpected side-jokes.

Waiter tripping over the phone cord killed me.

And Jonathan's new place is awesome.  I would totally live in a clock tower in Brooklyn.

Funniest bit was Danson watching his young daughter tongue-kissing Rasche, then hurriedly covering up his own "60 IS THE NEW 45!!" article.

When David Rasche took off his helmet to reveal it was him I immediately yelled "HAMMMMMEEERRRRRRRRRRRRR!" at the top of my lungs. So awesome to see him again after all these years.

Holy Christ that episode was incredible.

I'm so happy this show is back! George getting all turned on from eating oysters was easily my favourite part, I laughed really hard when he said he felt like he needed to mount a woman immediately.

This season has been great so far. Always love the relationship between Jonathan and Louis.

"The big black cock of time?"

"I didn't say big. Why would you say that?"

'Man, it smells like fur and jizz in here!'

God I love this show.

Just picked up on this season and that last episode really got me going. Really intrigued to see how this is all going to pan out with the revelation about the sperm bank.

Cancelled. Boardwalk Empire is now the only thing worth watching on HBO.

BALLS.

I'm so sad about this.

What other show has a character say: "this place smells like jizz and fur" ?

To tell the truth I didn't think there would be a second season much less a third one.  That doesn't make it any better though.  I though Hung would be back for sure though.  I don't understand how Enlightened managed another season.

At least we know that the gang is happy.  Jonathan with his hot half sister, Ray with his elder love, and George with Mary Steenburgen.

Until Luck and Veep start in 2012

I think my neighbour may have just commented that I just uttered the loudest obscenity they'd ever heard.

Game of Thrones, Boardwalk, and Enlightened aside, HBO has basically mopped the floor with their existing recent series.

I think what has spawned this purge is that Boardwalk Empire hasn't exactly caught fire in a "Sopranos" sense, nor have any of these other series (apart from Thrones), and AMC, Showtime, and even Starz are now gaining in the critical-attention categories. HBO will now probably look for a few rounds of "must-see, water-cooler" TV -- I'm betting heavily that they're now trying to put a rush on the Aaron Sorkin vehicle they have in the wings, for example.

Am I the only one who thought Boardwalk and Treme were incredibly dull (I know.  Heresy)?  Couldn't make it past episode 3 of the first season of Boardwalk and gave Treme a full season given Simon's The Wire but didn't come back for season 2.  There's too much good TV out there for me to stop and smell the roses so to speak.

I'm really, really sad about this.  But HBO is still the place to watch quality TV.  Luck, Veep, and Aaron Sorkin's new series will hopefully tear it up.

I hear Homeland is great, but what else does Showtime have?  Weeds has been bad for like 2 seasons now.  AMC has Mad Men and the Walking Dead (a huge maybe; this season.  Ug.  I can't believe I watched the whole thing).

I find Boardwalk Empire extremely dull, which seems nearly impossible considering the cast, writing staff, and subject matter, but there it is. Treme I have not kept up with but I have no doubt it's excellent.

Showtime has nothing aside from Homeland. AMC has Breaking Bad, conspicuously absent from your list. It's the best non-HBO show of all time, and its only serious competition is Mad Men (and MAYBE the Shield depending on who you ask).

I need to get on Breaking Bad.  That's my mistake.

Also, Sorkin's new series has a title: THE NEWSROOM.  If this is Sports Night + West Wing, I'm going to die a happy man.

I forgot about Treme.  So Boardwalk, Treme, and hopefully Veep for the watchable HBO shows.  Sorkin's tv work is hit and miss for me.  Liked but didn't quite love West Wing, couldn't bother with Sports Night, and Studio 60 just didn't work.  I'll wait for advance word on The Newsroom.

And Cinemax has Strike Back.  Just saying.

CSI had to be relieved, since Ted Danson's contract stipulated that Bored to Death was his first priority.
