Authored by novelist and Times book critic Lev Grossman, I suppose you could describe it as a modern fantasy tale aimed toward adults who got some enjoyment from the Harry Potter books.
The lead "hero" in the story, a graduating high school student who has a creepy obsession with fictional, Narnia style books throughout his life, discovers he's a "Magician", and is whisked away to an elite magical college of pedagogy, where he studies sorcery, drugs, sex, and violence.
Has anyone else read the book, and if so, thoughts on it? I have no doubt will be turned into a series.

I actually think that the reviews on the Amazon site are a bit on the spoilery side, so caution when you read them.
