This guy is awesome and productive as hell and I think that in a few decades he'll be seen as one of the true masters of the medium. His latest, Why Are You Doing This is probably the most french/belgian looking thing he's ever done (those tiny panels!); the plot is a Hitchcockian page turner with a truly devastating ending.

I suppose you could make the case that he hasn't evolved all that much in the past few years - his work since he's started doing long form volumes is pretty similiar - but I dunno, I find his current aesthetic so perfectly realised that I see no real need to depart from it.

Anyone here a fan?

I too am a fan. Of what I've read, my favorite story of his is probably 'I Killed Adolf Hitler' (previewed in Bob's link above).

So, wait, turns out Why Are You Doing This? is from like 2005? I was fooled by the new releases section of my comic book store.

I Killed Adolf Hitler was the first long form comic of his I've read, and so the first time I realised he could do more than (great) gag strips. I also have a lot of affection for the 19th century pulp inspired The Last Musketeer and Pocket Full Of Rain, a ragtag collection of his early stuff (including a juvenile, hilarious take on Corto Maltese.)

That preview's pretty great. I'll have to check it out.
