Survivor: Samoa

Starts tonight at 8 p.m. This show kinda fell of my radar, but I liked last season well enough (thanks to Coach). If no personalities emerge from the get-go, I can't say I'll stick around this year.
Holy crap, thanks for the heads up.
I heard a spoiler about one of the castaways so I'm definitely tuning in (they have an interesting strategy).
They pimped this season like crazy during the U.S. Open, so I'm already sick of that fat redneck they're touting as "the ultimate villain!" We'll see how it turns out, I guess. I'm still on board this dopey train until it crashes.
From past experiences, the shitty seasons are the one they pimp beyond belief as "the most shocking Survivor EV-AH!"
Hoo boy. I can tell this season is going to be a chore.
Strangely enough the first person voted off the island, Marissa, is a student of mine at Cincinnati State. She got royally screwed by that oil baron fellow.
Russell?

Yeah, he's the best. By far.
And once again Survivor continues the tradition of voting off the best rack far too early in the season.

Russell may as well be twirling a mustache. Someone's going to catch onto him sooner rather than later.

Hopefully sooner as he's a complete sociopathic asshole and worse, not interesting television. Bring back Coach!

Russell being an evil oilman sums up the state of our country all in one person. I'm tired of him already.

As a psychologist, the first 10 minutes was the most interesting for me. Seeing everyone size people up by applying stereotypes was utterly fascinating. I'm sure most of the people were unconscious of their biases, but the old guy who just came right out and said he was surprised Jaison could swim because everyone knows "Afro-Americans can't swim" was as explicit as one could be.
Russell does feel kind of like a ringer. But so did Coach! Although I do enjoy anyone who talks to the camera about how stupid other players are. I'm sure he won't be around too long. Same as I was with Coach!

As fas as assholes go, the younger redneck guy on the same team has gigantic potential.
I always enjoy those players in the first few eliminations who brag about how they're running things and have everyone doing their bidding. They never seem to realize that the real players are perfectly content letting someone else appear to run the show for the first couple of weeks.

I'll be shocked if Russell makes it to the jury. He doesn't even realize that there are people onto him already.
My favorite survivors were these people:

Fat guy with the tie-dye shirt (Peter?)
Elizabeth (survivor most like myself)

With that said, I read an article today on the HP (huffpo, or "Huffington Post") that stated that the current season of survivor features a player who lied about being a victim of Katrina. That is not cool. Way more evil (but still less annoying) than John "Fair Play"
Russell did that last night. Said he was a New Orleans firefighter who lost his dog in a flood. Then turned around and told the cameras that he's never been to New Orleans, never been a firefighter, and never had a dog.

That already aired Kate. Were you paying attention?

Lol, thats hilarious. I love that he was thinking New Orleans firefighter. Mixed up 9/11 firefighters with NOLA coast guard. Lack of water was not the problem during Katrina

I was paying attention to a news story on the Huffington Post

Clay Jordan (redneck Runner-Up from Thailand) is from my state. How do you think I feel?
I missed this. Is there any way to watch it online?

God, Russell is a rancid dick. I hope the rest of the tribe catch on to him. It certainly is a unique strategy, though, being outright evil. I don't know how that's gonna work out. Most of his tribe seems like lameasses that deserve fricking with, though. Why do they always put the nice people on one tribe, and the dicks on the other?

Wow, Ben makes Russell look like a saint. I'm ok with Russell this ep. He's less "evil maniac" and more "evil strategist". He's basically just trying every angle to get himself ahead. Plus, I loved that he searched for and found what turned out to be the other team's immunity necklace.

Jasmine, what a piece of work. No wonder her tribe sent her away. Calling her illiterate, ghetto trash is just over the line though.
Yep, good start, Samoa. Lots of good here. Lose two oldsters in one episode, that's good. Ghetto stereotype versus redneck stereotype, that's also good. Jaison is getting the same kind of edit Yul and a couple other winners got. Oh, who's on the other team?

No kidding. The only name I know on Galu is Shambo, who's about to get her ass ejected.

Jaison definitely stands out on the other tribe. I hope his proposed offensive against Russell doesn't land him in hot water.
Russell cracked me up when he was relating all the reasons to take Jaison to the end...he's quiet, he gets along with people, he's strong, he's smart. So, he's a smart, likeable immunity threat? Great F2 partner there, mastermind.
Cutie law student Monica is going to be my Survivor girlfriend this season.

Credit where credit is due: Russell is playing more shrewdly than I expected. He practices the Learn When To Keep Your Mouth Shut strategy very well.

I love that Jaison took a stand against Ben. He really was an asshole among assholes. And yeah, Russell is playing a pretty good game so far. I had to laugh when Ben says to Ashley, "Someone told me you brought up my name and it wasn't Russell." Ummm...if you can't figure out that Russell was the culprit, you really are dumb as rocks. Previews for next week show that someone is smart enough to figure out that if there is an immunity idol at the opposing camp, there's probably one at yours as well. Lastly, Black Russell is crazy. If Jeff offers you a tarp, take it. It always rains on Survivor and being cold and wet sucks.
That tribal council obviously swung some Ashley voters over to Ben. I wonder how Russell will react to having his will thwarted for this first time. Does he target Jaison now? Jaison obviously has some influence.
Actually, EVERYONE ELSE voted for Ben. You could see it in their faces as he dug himself a deeper and deeper hole. First Liz, then Mitch gave looks of disgust, and then Russell saw that, and the gears turned.
Also, Black Russell is a moron.

I get the feeling that Yaz got the lazy black person edit. Every other person on her tribe took naps in the middle of the day. Though admittedly I would be annoyed by the coconut milk thing, too. Ultimately, I think she got the boot because she had a terrible social game. Lazy people regardless of race stick around if people like them. Yaz' personality was so abrasive that even if she performs in the challenges, no one wants her around.

Pretty much. I was getting nervous that the last remaining eye candy was going to be ousted, but fortunately the tribe made the right decision.

Overall, not digging this season too much yet. No folks to really root for, except maybe Jaison.
I always root for the biggest prick, so I'm pulling Russell.

I can't remember the last time a real asshole won. Parvati? Aras? Go Russell.
Aras was a basket-case. But he was pretty likeable.
Dunno why, but I have a feeling Natalie is going pretty far. She actually seems to be the only person with a sane strategy. Which is laying low, staying on Russell's good side, and not making waves.
The other strategists?

Russell the Evil:
Step One: Do Evil Things Behind People's Backs
Step Two: ????
Step Three: Win Survivor!!!

Erik:
Step One: Get Hidden Immunity Idol
Step Two: ????
Step Three: Win Survivor!!!
I'm wondering if Ashley is going to be a contender. She's gotten the victim/outsider edit for a while now, always on the brink of getting voted out. It reminds me of how they edited Sierra last season, only Ashley has been one of the few in her tribe to seem to be somewhat aware of Russell's scheming.

...or I could just want her to stick around because she makes me happy in the pants.

According to THIS VIDEO, Ashley is playing the sidekick card on purpose because people find her real personality intimidating. Intimidating how, exactly?

Ugh. Why must you kill my Ashley buzz?

Bye bye Ashley. I liked her even though she was useless. At least I knew her name. I had no idea there was someone named Natalie on that tribe.

I'm ready for the merge. These tribes are boring and predictable. I need something to switch up soon. Letting White Russell loose on the other tribe will make for awesome TV. There is so little scheming this season. Is anyone playing the game? I mean, so boring.

And Black Russell shoulda fucking knew fucking better than to give up that tarp. I would be livid if I were on that island in 48 hours of freezing cold rain.
I find Shambo pretty annoying, but, damn, don't I want her to get some sort of vengeance on Galu Russell. GR was kind of a tool to Dave as well.

I would have been utterly worthless on that blender challenge. So foul.

Still not feeling this season at all. So far it seems like the weakest in a couple of years at least.
Yeah, Black Russell is lameballs. I expect a lot of crying and bitching about honor and respect from that end.

Not great so far. White Russell remains the only hope, and I doubt he's for the long haul.
Hmm. It's an off season! They happen. I just realized that there were at least 3 purple tribers I had never even seen before last night.

Other than Russell, there's not a single character left I give a shit about winning or losing. I don't care how long anyone lasts or whether they go home sooner or later. The only thing that could save this season now is Russell manipulating everyone flawlessly like a hillbilly Machiavelli. Fingers crossed for that, although it seems unlikely.
Without their leader, Galu is going to get creamed. Foa Foa is down to their toughest members, while the two Galu members that have left were strong.
Also, why no love for Dave? Dave is awesome.

During the first episode, I thought Russell was the most god-awful scumbag the show had ever discovered. Now he's the only thing holding the season together.

When other Russell keeled over last night, you could practically see Probst's eyes flash "Lawsuit! Lawsuit!"

Ben Browning is a rich doctor's kid from my hometown of Kirksville, MO. I don't watch the show, but they were following his progress in the local paper.
Monica was rocking the tiny panties with knee-high socks look. That was the only interesting thing on this episode. It's essentially become "The Russell Show."
Dave resembles an R Crumb drawing.
