That's cool, dude. You guys sounded like yall were having a very intense game of firefight.

Love this game to pieces, best single player campaign since Combat Evolved in my view, and Firefight is amazing but the lag is killer. Me, Mac, Zombie and Eric were doing quite well on one of the maps, the one that looks like Data Hive, and we were up to 70,000 points with 10 lives between us.

Then we hit a lag spike and all get disconnected. I know Halo has always been a bit twitchy, but it is vaguely ridiculous that a premier title like ODST can't manage co-op in the way that Saints Row or Left4Dead can.

Going back to the campaign I don't think I've been so enamoured by Halo in a long while. Aside from the dodgy cutscenes, where all the characters move like they're stop motion puppets, the game is really quite impressive and it's all because of the art design. There's a real beauty to the world and what helps is how interconnected it all feels. It's amazing to walk down a street as the Rookie and see a flaming building in the distance and then get a flashback showing how that building came to be aflame.

he shifts from sheer terror as the Rookie to the adrenaline pumping flashbacks are amazing. Also I kind of dig the score, a lot. It's kind of odd at times but it works the jazz/prog rock works a lot better for me than the poundy drums of the Halo 3.

Played through the single player campaign the other night on Legendary in 4 player co-op. Took about 5 hours to finish it. The games quite fun outside of the rookie segments. I'd even go as far as saying some of the set pieces were the best in the series.

However the rookie sections really do suck. I agree with Alex on this. I tried to give these sections I chance, I really did. But running around a dark empty city for fifteen minutes listening to crappy jazz music, with the occassional group of enemies thrown in isn't my idea of "building atmosphere" or "sheer lonely terror". Nor was it fun.

By the 4th rookie segment, Everyone in my group couldn't wait till we found the shitty clue the rookie was looking for and cut to another ODST's storyline. Again, it's nice Bungie tried something different with the design of these segments and the overall music, but it just doesn't work and worst of all, it's fucking boring. Not as sucky as say the last two levels of Halo 3, but still not good. Bungie should stick to what the series excels at and expand/evolve on that, because seriously, many of the action set pieces in this game kicked major arse and I'd love to player bigger and even better set pieces in Reach.

I hate how the cooperative and singleplayer campaigns are seperate, because I've done three or four missions on co-op, and since that doesn't carry over to singleplayer (And I don't want to replay the game again, by myself, on Legendary), I have to wait and badger my online friends into playing with me.

Bah, this is really annoying, a friend and I played through the game on Legendary but for some reason it glitched out and didn't give us credit for beating Data Hive. So now we've got every mission but Data Hive as showing we've beat it and will have to play through probably the weakest chapter by far (yes! more identical long and winding corridors!) to get the achievements.

Overall the campaign was pretty fun. Mostly just because it was nice to know that the Flood weren't going to show up mid-game. I don't feel any need to own it but I've liked most of what I played.

Holy crap did I just have my best Firefight ever I think. Crash Sight on Normal with only my cousin to back me up. I had 110k and change points! 378 kills total, 225 from the gatling gun. I got two Invincible achievements. That's where you kill 100 enemies without dying! Took an hour but damn was it worth it!

My best kill of the night though when I was up on the balcony where the gatling gun is, I was at the steps to the right, there was a brute (this was when they had the shields deflect bullets) in the middle where the four columns were, I stuck him with a spike grenade and blew his ass up!
