Google Sync: Now with push Gmail support
After only supporting Push Calendars and Contacts on competing handhelds, Google has finally opened up Push Gmail support on Android-less devices. Couple this news with the already brilliant Dropbox and MobileMe is as good as dead.

It's amazing they ever got you guys to pay for it.

When I brought my Palm Pre, I entered my Gmail address and Facebook login just once during my first bootup, and all of my contacts and friends were instantly synced over the air and are now continuously updated with contact photos and other pertinent info too. Push Gmail was enabled out the box too.

But I guess every platform has its bugaboos...

To be perfectly honest, I’m not sure what the reason was, it felt like it was a competitive advantage to help prop up Google’s Android line of phones, but when the Pre got it I started to wonder.

I use GPush, and have had push notifications for a while on my g-mail. I added the exchange stuff, but I'll drop it if work asks me to connect.
