New Order: Watch it again. Really listen to the dialogue. It's NOT a "coming of age" film, but rather an exploration of the truths that live under the surface of our consensual reality. It "outs" the things we don't talk about or don't acknowledge because they are taboo and we've "agreed" not to. It's a fiercely brave work, but you have to really listen to it to hear what's going on. I had to watch it three times for everything to sink in. |
i hope this is about Y TU MAMA TAMBIEN, anyways, if i watched it three times i think i'd become delirious with false praise as well, what can i say, never said it was about coming of age, just thought it sucked, just the way it was done alone it seemed like more of a foreign film for hollywood viewers than a really pure foreign film, i think what bothered me the most was that i really didn't care what happened to any of them, taboo or not, i can't add depth to something that couldn't even scratch the surface, added to which everyone i've talked to IRL that loved it doesn't have an extensive foreign film vewing repertoire, and saw it only cause it was a trendy popular thing to do, and those movie dudes gave it two thumbs up...
