Really great ep. I loved all the threads. And Cameron is my favorite character. He really can do no wrong.

What was Jay's comeback? "Peaches and Herb"? I gonna assume that's some 70's disco group.

You ... you've honestly never heard of Peaches and Herb?

That little cartoon character of a kid just gets more and more awesome.

I rewound him running through the door and laughed just as hard the second time.

It took Luke in the cage before I realized he was doing everything you would expect the dog to do.

Manny just owned tonight. His reaction when the actor showed up saved a really telegraphed joke.

And whoever thought of Fred Willard as Phil's dad deserves a big raise.

i did a spit take as soon as Fred Willard appeared. best casting ever.
Yeah, the family is really coming together. And totally loved that Frank could get away complementing Gloria. Seems like Ed Oneil really loves Willard.

Luke stole the episode. But my favorite line had to be "That was Phil, he had a red bull"

Yeah, it was infuriating last fall when we only got to see him on the webcam. They HAD to bring him back.
I dont know how they do it, but they can really do no wrong.

Alex and Haley reacting to the boy being 14 years old was just priceless.
Just caught up on the last two eps. Both greatness.

I've apparently heard their songs, but had no idea what group sang them.

Cam saying "You don't know that" when the flight attendant was complimenting Lili was great.
What happened? My DVR cut off as Phil was dragging Claire onto the flight and the boarding agent asked if she was drunk.
"No, she's just a riot. Let's do Bride of Frankenstein now! " And he carries her into the gateway.

Thanks!

They need a Lost actor cameo next week in Hawaii.
They need plenty of gratuitous bikini shots next week in Hawaii.
There were a lot of paparazzi shots of the cast filming on the beach a few months ago.

Alex falling on the floor and kicking her feet in the air was just about the cutest thing I've seen in a while. I was giggling like a loon.
I've only recently realized she plays the young Trixie in Speed Racer.
Holy shit do i want a Manny and Luke spin-off.

"I'm just gonna rock ya, like a Hurricane... you are probably to old to get it"
"She probably thinks she's back in Vietnam."

"The Lavender Farm is something two men should do together."

"We're not doing it a third time."

"I had bread. I had cheese. I had an iron. What else what I supposed to do?"

The way you guys feel about Community? That's how I feel about this show.
I feel it about both. These 2 and Archer on the same year. It's like the comedy gods are smiling on us.

"we had a fire drill"

These kids are really incredible. It's going to be interesting watching them grow up. Maybe they'll lose their funny?

Phil watching Gloria in the glasses slayed me. "Is she in slow motion or is that just my brain?". And when his neck fell asleep on Jay I lost it.

Julie Bowen really needs to eat something. She has that Kelly Ripa/Maria Shriver Skeletor thing going on. Gah.

Anyone catch who played the voice of Jay's brother? I'm wondering if its a known actor.
Somebody said they thought it was Brian Dennehy.

I loved the bit with Cameron thinking the guy they met on safari might now be a warlord, with the cut to the guy in a Hilary 2008 shirt.

I lost it when he said that his wallet was in his front pocket, and the camera pans back to show it in his back pocket.

This episode was on fire. Everything worked, but damn Luke was stole it. I normally think he's annoying, but his idiotic antics won me over. Luke walking out of the bathroom with the shower cap on his head and the blow dryer in his hand making robot noises was so funny. I couldn't stop laughing.
They wrapped him in saran wrap. Awesome.
Yeah, but that was the only funny part of this episode. The rest felt a little forced and too formulaic. I didn't really like it.
Really? I loved it. Especially how they paid off Luke wrapped in plastic wrap with the Hurt Locker gag. And Mitchell fighting the pigeon set to Cameron's "Ave Maria" was sublime.
It was the first episode that made me feel like it was a normal sitcom. The storylines weren't very interesting. And the characters were separated most of the time, didn't quite bounce of each other as much.
That mudfight at the end was way too predictable and saccharine for my tastes. And yeah, the arena phone gag seemed like something out of any run-of-the-mill sitcom.
I did like Phil choking when Kobe responded to him, but it was ruined by the commercials. The pigeon fight was a thing of glory, though. Loved that.

"Dad, grandpa says he's going to beat you up."

C'mon...how could you not think that was funny?
I found it to be a subpar episode. Nothing really made me really laugh. Few chuckles was all.
An entire season and two of the couples had sex or had grand gestures of love for each other. The gay couple? Not even a peck on the cheek.

Because it was so telegraphed and sit-com-y? "Oh no, I'm going to unreasonably panic because an in-law kissed me on the teevee!"

I mean, c'mon. This show has been smarter than that in the past. While I can't comprehend that people actually think this show is better written than almost any of NBC's Thursday night lineup, I do think it's smarter than that corny stuff.
But that's totally Phil. And it was funny because he was panicking about something his wife didn't even see. The small innocuous thing he was so casual about (sending her to voice mail), that was what upset her. We've seen him consistently inflate small things into big things throughout the season, so this felt completely right for his character. And Alex's delivery of the text messages went a long way towards selling the gag too.

Stonestreet: Modern Family Facebook Gay-Kiss Campaign Is ‘Wasted Energy’

Modern Family is capping off a great year: It received a Peabody Award yesterday at the Waldorf Astoria, and Kobe Bryant is making a guest appearance in tomorrow's season finale (the Lakers star is a huge fan of the show). The only cloud on the show's horizon is a Facebook campaign demanding that gay characters Cameron (Eric Stonestreet) and Mitchell (Jesse Tyler Ferguson) share an onscreen kiss.

Creator Steve Levitan, who issued a statement in response asking fans to "please chillax," told us: "It's hard when you're in our position because we don't want to sound defensive about it. Everything we're doing, we feel like we're doing for character reasons. There is an episode that addresses it next season that we had in the works anyway, so I think that it'll all pass soon."

Stonestreet, who called the Facebook group "wasted energy," was less calm: "We're a show that obviously is forward- and progressive-thinking," the star told us. "To adopt a baby on prime-time television is way more taboo than a kiss, and obviously Mitchell and Cameron are going to experience everything in their relationship. Unfortunately, I've been tweeted and sent messages saying that because I'm straight, I don't get to have an opinion on that, which really disappoints me. I play the character and I think I get to have an opinion on it."

Jesse Tyler Ferguson (Mitchell): I’m very protective of Mitchell and Cameron, of their relationship. I would like to see them show more physical affection—we film scenes several ways, including kisses—but at the same time we’re moving cautiously, because it’s sort of a gay Trojan horse in people’s living rooms.

NSFW picture of Julie Bowen breastfeeding her twins

Apparently she showed this photo during an interview on Lopez Tonight.

Just caught up with this episode and kinda agree on the "meh" vibe I'm getting here. That said, it did feature what might be one of my favorite lines of the entire season with Luke relaying that Phil thinks "the greatest singer who ever lived is Peabo Bryson."

Superb first season. Some ep. (like the last one) felt a little formulaic but most of the season they were on fire (Fizbo being a highlight for me).
I like the way they're using the documentary gimmick to cover reaction shots from most of the cast involved in a scene.
Cam and Luke are just great.

Huh. I don't know if this is happening in other threads, but I know we've had discussions about the show posted since the new season began, but it looks like everything since last June has vanished.

Coulda sworn I looked for that already...

Yes, season 2-thread is active. I was just posting my comments on Season One, which I just finished yesterday.
