Katamari Forever

Just finished watching the trailer for that new movie where George Clooney is giving a heartfelt speech about playing Katamari. Anyone pick it up?

I tried the demo. It was okay, but nothing special. What really bugged me were the instances where you'd bump into a wall and the camera would just work its hardest to annoy you. The new art style is kind of grating to look at. Frame rate wasn't impressive either.

I'm actually enjoying it a helluva lot, and I never thought I'd say that about a Katamari title again.

There are four different visual styles you can pick from in the game if you don't like the cell shading, and there's a new jump maneuver (hit R2) that changes things up a bit. But it's the same goddamn thing as always, just with many, many more levels. I think there's something like 34, and when you beat them all you get mode that's almost like Katamari Turbo, which is so much fun that I'm trying to beat them all again. And apparently there's yet another gameplay mode after you beat them all like that, as well as a fourth which is the one where you can go around without a time limit.

Story sucks and the camera seems to get stuck behind objects more often, but the remixed music and old stages are a blast, and some of the bigger, more fantastical levels are incredible fun.

god damn you. I'm trying to not buy games right now but that sounds like some decent fun for my ps3. Toggable art styles, nice.

I was about to start a thread about this. Great minds and all that...

Anyway, is it more fun than Katamari 360? I tried the demo for that one and it just seemed lifeless and dull. Also, I didn't like the ridiculous way they set up DLC so I never bothered to pick it up. I really enjoyed the other three Katamari games before that.

Much better. Although I have to admit I hardly played that one, due to me being burned out on the whole concept. But this one pulled me back in. I don't think it's a great game, but it's a very solid one. Really fun in co-op and versus play, although strangely there's no online component besides friggin' leaderboards.

Addicted to this once on ps2, trying not to buy on psp, as there is no rehab for katamari addiction.

For the record, Beautiful Katamari wasn't anything terribly special, and there were more annoyances in that one than there had been in this series ever. There was a level where you had to make your Katamari as hot as possible that nearly made me toss a controller. Havent gotten that pissed at a game in years.

Still, this is one of those series I have no defense against. A new one comes out, I'm buying it. No discussion.

They have another of those hot ones. Most of the king levels (versus the robo-king's) are set in a dreamworld, and have the more bizarre requests. Make a snowman, make a katamari this certain size, etc.

I'd be willing to buy this one if it were cheaper but I'm not going to pay $50 for it. I'm hoping I'll be able to find a copy for closer to $25 in a couple months. I'm always this close to buying a Katamari game and then end up getting something else.
