Since the 3.1 update sucks to those who have jailbroken phones (I think its worth it)
Download carrier update file:

Windows:
Go to run:
C:\Program Files\iTunes\iTunes.exe /setPrefInt carrier-testing 1
Mac:
terminal:
defaults write com.apple.iTunes carrier-testing -bool TRUE
then just hold shift and update the phone, you keep 3.01 and maintain the jailbreak/unlock etc.
I'd just like to say its finally so awesome to do this. Actually nope, I don't care, but thought this could be useful for people. I've probably sent 1 or 2 MMS in my life, but I guess people who need constant visual updates of things, yeah for them.
