That Eddie House pass has to be play of the year.
That LeBron James dunk was pretty sweet as well.
What's up with Zach Randolph? All the sudden he's the best center in the league!
Anybody want to drop their personal "All-Decade" Team?

Mine:

C Shaquille O'Neal-The 'presence' of the decade; nobody got more rings

G Kobe Bryant- the player of the decade; the heir to Jordon; yet has there ever been a more hated superstar?

F Tim Duncan-Bryant's biggest rival for player of the decade; if he had the fire and competitiveness of Bryant, it would be no contest, and he'd have at least one or two more rings

G Steve Nash- the Hip-Hop Bob Cousy; the jump his game took on the Suns is remarkable; only lack of title haunts the resume

F Kevin Garnett-fiercest competitor of the bunch, unlike Bryant, ego doesn't get in the way; another title this year and he can be mentioned in same breath as Duncan and the Daddy

Runner-Ups

G Allan Iverson--2001 MVP; the numbers are impressive
F Dirk Nowitzki- '07 MVP; for most of decade appeared on the verge of greatness, hasn't reached it yet; looks like he's finally recovering from choke against Miami
G Vince Carter-the Dominique Wilkins of the decade; too bad, because he could've been Jordan.
C Yao Ming--despite injuries, 2nd best center of decade; he's grown into a force
F LeBron James-spectacular outta the gate; all he needs is a Phil Jackson

Good team except for Nash. Guy's a turnstyle. Give me Chauncey Billups ahead of him any day. It's no coincidence that Billups teams win games.

I agree Billups is a winner, but all decade? That would be like picking DJ for the 80's.
My point is that Nash is good at racking up numbers, which is a highly overrated trait in basketball.

And yet you don't have an issue with Iverson or Carter on the runner-up list?
I do, though. I was just addressing one of the actual picks.

ETA: Now that I think about it, Vince Carter, really?
Yeah, I was going to say if anybody should be attacked for being less than the sum of their numbers it would be V. Carter.
Maybe they should change their name back to Bullets.

Washington Wizards teammates Gilbert Arenas and Javaris Crittenton drew guns on each other during a Christmas Eve locker room argument over a gambling debt, according to The New York Post.

Citing an anonymous source, the newspaper reports in Friday's edition that the standoff was sparked when Crittenton became angry at Arenas for refusing to make good on a gambling debt. That prompted Arenas to draw on Crittenton, who then also grabbed for a gun, league security sources tell the Post.

Most of the great ones are a little crazy. Gilbert is not at that level. So, he's just a colorful character. Or a moron.
Suspend them both for 50 games. No fucking reason to have a gun in your locker room, let alone pull it on a teammate. Stern better lay down the fucking law here. Seriously, I want to hear the fucking motivation for having A GODDAMN GUN in your locker. I don't give a fuck if its not loaded, NO REASON IN THE WORLD TO HAVE A GUN IN YOUR LOCKER.
In fairness, they live in D.C..
Gilbert and Artest should have a crazy-off. As an All-Star Weekend event they should go one-on-one while fans throw guns at them.
David Stern just suspended Arenas indefinitely.

Good. As soon as I saw Arenas doing the shooters during the intro I knew he was fucked.
A lot of people were surprised he played last night. Stern seemed willing to wait until the legal ramifications came through, but I bet he got a hell of a lot of pressure to act earlier.
Is Arenas a legit retard?

Just an attention whore.
He's getting treated worse than Sprewell which is ridiculous.

How about that Celtics buzzer beater last night? Fantastic!

Break up the Knicks & Clips!

Tough week for my Hawks.

And I love those vintage Cavs unies with the new colors. So cool.

Not really. Sprewell choked a coach, which is obviously a huge problem. But it was a physical altercation that was easily broken up by members of the team.

Arenas brought four guns into a locker, and dared a team mate to shoot him! And then, to make it worse, Jarvis pulled a loading gun, chambered it, and told Arenas he didn't need his guns to do him in. Deadspin claimed five sources in the locker room at the time confirmed that is the legit story. Arenas is accepting blame for starting the altercation, and letting himself look back to cover for Jarvis. Shit I would too after the guy pulled a piece on me.

Also, Sprewell didn't go out to a game the next night and make a choking sign with his hands during intros and be a big asshole about it. And don't get me started on the completely ignorant stance of the NBA being full of gun toting thugs that Stern has to fight daily, even though the NFL is just as bad.
Gilbert Arenas, still not as nuts as Vernon Maxwell.

The ghost of Christmas future is Jayson Williams. Nobody wants to see that.

The Spurs and Hawks are turning it up! Also glad to see my boy, B-Diddy still has it.

Catching up on my ESPN reading, a great rumor is Tracy McGrady going to D.C. for Caron Butler and Mike Miller, even possibly Randy Foye. That would be a killer move for the Rockets!

No he did not, but I would have loved to have seen that. I'm kinda disappointed that we did not get to see his proposed "High Noon Shootout" the night after the Philly game at the Cavaliers game. That would have been great.
Do you guys think Chicago has a chance to be dangerous the second half?

A shame the Clipper curse is affecting Griffin. Very disappointing.

Does anybody actually enjoy watching the Cavs?
Anya, have you apologized to Joakim Noah yet?

All Star reserve picks anyone?

I'd like to see Chauncey Billups make it.
David Lee has to feel short-changed by the All-Star snub.
I'm watching as many games this year as I always do, but for some reason this whole year has been so uninteresting. To the point where I don't even care if my team wins or loses because this year 95% of the teams are playing for the offseason.
The problem with this NBA season has, like this year's NFL season, been the sheer number of awful teams, but I think the Playoffs, at least in the East, will be exciting. Cleveland, Orlando and Boston should make the race for a finals spot pretty interesting.
This is just stupid. The NY Post (yeah, I know) is reporting that the Cavs are interested in trading for Amare Stoudemire. How does this make a lick of sense? No team is big enough for Stoudemire's and Shaq's egos. Both want the offense to run through them and it didn't work at all in Phoenix. Yeah, there were other problems with that offense, but Amare just shut down towards the end and did absolutely nothing. This is just a bad, bad idea.

ETA:
And to top it off, there's just no damn reason to make a trade. The Cavs are sitting on top of the NBA; they seem to have their shit together. Why go messing it up?
To make sure nobody else in the East gets him?

Did they win the title last year and I forgot about it or something?

The problems are still there, they didn't go anywhere. It's about time they realized their coach isn't going to get them over the hump, a 1 on 5 iso offense in the fourth quarter isn't getting you to the finals in the current NBA.

They are trying to keep the best player in the league... if they don't win a title they are probably fucked. I'd be looking to make a trade, too.

True, but a ball hog power forward is the last thing they need. And the Shaq/Amar'e front court didn't exactly set the world on fire in Phoenix.

I can see trading for someone to get over the hump, but trading for Stoudamire looks like acting without thinking. If they need some more offensive fire-power, I'd go for a shooting 3 guard. Someone who can play a role like Shawn Marion did for Phoenix a few years back.
Worst dunk contest ever?
I've never seen so many cuts to people looking disappointed/unimpressed.
If it wasn't the worst ever it's only because I've forgotten the worst. Hopefully I will forget this one too.
Did you guys catch Barkley say "Maybe nobody won" when the winner was about to be announced. Summed my thoughts up perfectly.

And Nate, God doesn't care that orphans are dying in Haiti, I doubt that he cares if you won the slam dunk contest.
So Kenny "Sky" Walker is off the hook?
They should have locked up the Dunk Contest after Vince Carter won in 2000. Nobody since has come anywhere close to him.
Trade thoughts?

The Cavs are the big winners, obviously. Jamison is such a perfect pick up.

I also love the Boston and Dallas moves.

If the T-Mac deal goes thru, I love it for Houston.
Everything I read said Stoudamire would have been the better pick because he's six years younger and would have been a long term carrot to keep LeBron around. But Jamison has roughly the same stats and came cheaper.
Cavs improved big time and might get Ilgauskas back in 30 days. Remains to be seen if it gets them over the top.

Bulls have done some dealing to clear cap space. The send 2nd round picks and Salmons to the bucks for expiring contracts. Also sent Thomas to the Bobcats for a conditional 1st and expiring contracts.

Kirk Hinrich has a shot at leaving in the next hour as well.

Bulls only win big if they get 2 big free agents in off season. Wade/Bosh, Bosh/Johnson, or the longshot Lebron/Wade.
If the Magic do anything, it'll be a total shock. They're line all week has been "We can win a championship with our current team."
And the Heat are apparently trying to make a deal for Carlos Boozer.
Vince Carter hitting an 87-foot shot while sitting. Not terribly useful in a game, but it's fun to watch for his and Dwight Howard's reactions.
#24 comes through again in his first game in 5 games, Lakers beat Grizzlies.
Mavs looking better since Butler/Howard trade.

Thoughts on Kidd drawing a charge from Mike Woodson?
Kevin Durant became the youngest scoring champ tonight. An amazing feat in itself, but what I love most about him is how awesome he is from the free throw line:

http://espn.go.com/nba/statistics/pl...freeThrowsMade

He led the league in free throws made (by a HUGE margin - 158, over LeBron); free throws attempted; free throws made per game; and free throws attempted per game. Oh, and he shot .899%.

Ridiculous.

I'll never understand how players can't make free throws. That's why I love the ones that do. Kevin Durant may just be the best in the league at incorporating this part of the game with his own.

Durant's something else, that's for sure. I'm looking forward to that LA series. I'd LOVE to see an upset. But I hate the Lakers, so...

But, to your point, what frustrates me are long-range shooters who can't make free throws. You take a guy like Jared Dudley from the Suns, who's ranked 6th in the NBA from the behind the arc, and he's missing free-throws. That just kills me.

Oh, and check it out: I used ESPN's playoff predictor this morning. You know who won the trophy? The Utah Jazz. You know who came out from the East to face the Mighty White Machine? The Milwaukee Bucks.

Yeah, that's what I thought too...
