Since these were rescued from the brink of death, we might as well have a thread on them.

October 2 9:10 PM Toute la mémoire du monde (All the World's Memory) and Le Chant du styrène
October 3 7:30 PM Muriel ou Les temps d'un retour
October 3 9:30 PM Night and Fog (Nuit et brouillard)
October 9 7:30 PM La Guerre est finie (The War is Over)
October 9 9:40 PM Guernica and Les Statues meurent aussi (Statues also Die)
October 10 7:30 PM Je t'aime, je t'aime

God, how devastating this must be on a big screen.

BIG fan of Resnais, but to be completely honest, if the Friends of LACMA group just wrestled the film program for a stray of execution, it really needs to come home every month with the thunder. Gotta show those bean counters who's the boss (and why they need to keep it there), and I don't think the Resnais programme they put together is going to create that demand for that larger audience other than the die-hards. If they can't fill it with crowds, then what's the point? I bet that the suits in charge are definitely taking a long, hard look at this sort of thing.

Another suggestion? LACMA guest programmers, like the New Bev. Or the Am. Cine people going in and stirring the pot.

Looks like Jean-Paul Belmondo's going to be on hand to introduce Mississippi Mermaid at LACMA tomorrow night.

EDIT: Also, Tarkovsky all during the last weekend of January/first weekend of February!
