Anyone here listen to anything like drum and bass, glitch hop, breaks..or htat other stuff, house techno trance?

I'm a big DnB and Glitchhop fan myself and spin it semi-regularly. Nothing beats hanging out in front of a massive set of clear cutting speakers and gettin a bass massage.

I'm into vocal house, electro house, progressive house, and a little dubstep.

My current favorites right now would be Laidback Luke, Axwell, and Arno Cost.

much more of an IDM kind of guy, so Boards of Canada, Proem, Aphex Twin etc, etc...........

Autechre subnick + Aphex Twin location reference = yeah.

Also, if we count "neurofunk" under DnB, which I guess could be made, for a while there I was into it too.

"EDM"? I suppose it's more descriptive than just saying Dance music, and less retarded than Electronica; term still doesn't feel right, tho.

Right now I'm big into Balearic, Cosmic Disco, a bit of UK Funky House...plus of course lots of Old School stuff, from Detroit House to UK Rave.

Beats In Space and Resident Advisor are two podcasts I never miss. DJ History has the goods, too.

I DJ, and have since 1999. Though not so much anymore; only when I'm asked really (I don't pursue it like I used to).

I like pretty much everything as long as it's "good." I'm fairly picky in my tastes.

Off the top of my head, some of my favorites over the years (both production and DJing wise) have been:

Lawgiverz
Son of the Electric Ghost (aka Bill Bless)
Bassnectar
Glitch Mob
Vibesquad
Freq Nasty (not so much lately unless he's DJing)
Sasha & Digweed
Luke Chable (more older stuff)
Bad Company (older)
Teebee
Ed Rush & Optical
Evol Intent

fuck... I could go on literally forever, so I'll stop with my listing.

I love and sorely miss vinyl. Been relegated to CDs for the past, christ, I don't even know how long now. Most promoters in my area don't even offer actual turntables at most gigs anymore. It's usually CDJs or laptop options (BYOL, of course).

If fucking sucks, of course, because I have a metric shit ton of rare vinyl that I'd still like to play, but can't find through digital sources now. Need to rip/convert them.

I'm probably going to switch to Ableton (for some gigs, anyway) soon. I like the loose ability to change things on the fly, use a ridiculous amount of loops at once, and all that stuff. I've been doing it at home for a few years, just need a dependable laptop to start taking it out.

wow, cdjs only eh?? Up here we kinda went from vinyl straight to laptops. Most of my friends play a mixture of vinyl and digital or strickly vinyl

I don't think i'll ever stop loving just straight up vinyl

The composer for my short is a musician and huge dubstep and electronic listener- he's turned me on to Bassnectar and I think it's going to become a gateway drug. Loving it.

Most names for electronica are kind of dumb but there's something painfully square about calling it Electronic Dance Music. It's kind of like calling a rock band an Amplified Beat Combo.
