Why all the game playing? So much drama. There is nothing that can't be handled through a dialogue. If you enjoyed the guy's company in the past, TALK TO HIM.

Kind of my take. I was going to message initially but when he didn't immediately get in touch after I accepted the request I decided that the meaning of the request was unclear and I should wait. Still though, after 6 years I'm one of the first six people he'd think to add. That kind of says soemthing to me, but maybe that's reading too much into it.
