My choices: Smallville, Bones. Also I left plenty of procedurals some years ago. I only caught the last episodes of Sarah Connor since I already knew it was dying.

I'm pretty much done with House and Dollhouse. I was actually enjoying Dollhouse, just not enough. Haven't even watched a single second-season ep.

I repeatedly come close to dropping Dexter, yet every season they find a way to fool me into thinking that this time things are going to be different. This season? John Lithgow!
Right now? Since I have a kid, my TV time is limited.

Flashforward is boring. Out.

Bored to Deaht deserved it's name. Out.

Dollhouse is falling apart anyway, so it's gonna be cancelled soon.

I ditched Rescue Me last year, Heroes at season 2, and didn't bother with Sarah Connor Chronicles in season 2.

The wife loves House and Dexter, and they're alright I guess. But if it wasn't for her, I doubt I'd watch it.

Mythbusters - but only beacause I lowered my Sky package and I no longer get Discovery....
I made the same thread last year. Can't find it.
It broke up with you and went into witness protection.

Actually, there's one I broke up with. In Plain Sight (about witness protection, in case you didn't know). Liked Mary and Marshall, grew quickly tired of Mary's bullshit family and their dull as hell family. Though technically this is about shows you used to love but broke up with, so I guess that doesn't count.

Heroes, broke up with after a couple episodes of season three. Insufferably retarded mess.

I think that's the only one I truly considered one of my favourite shows of the TV season during its first run, but quickly turned shit.

Man, I'd never break up with that show. It's like a reliable booty call. I know it'll always be there in a pinch.
Grey's Anatomy. Said it before, but it's bogged down with too many Goddamn characters and the decision to reward Katherine Heigl's ungrateful bitch attitude and simultaneously nuking T.R. Knight for doing the exact same thing (i.e. complaining to the press about having "nothing to do" when one was legit and the other bullshit) did me in.
I'm starting to lose interest in Community. It's not that it's poorly done or badly acted, it's just not clicking with me.
Broke up with Dexter this year, despite crazy Lithgow. 3 was just so awful. I left Rescue Me as well, but that was more a timing thing. Now there's just a daunting amount of catch up, so maybe after it's run is over. Oh, and Carnivale. I don't get the love.
Law & Order: SVU is another one. Went from borderline to flat-out laughably bad. Anyone who cared about the "Will they or won't they hook up?" issue should give it up. They've beaten that dead horse over the last 10 years.
I dumped Heroes last year
I left Bored to Death after the first ep,
Sadly, I had to leave Burn Notice. I really like the first two seasons but this third season just seemed off to me.
I read the EW list, and and some people were breaking up with "The Office" and "Mad Men" (respectively the best comedy and the best drama on TV, IMHO).

No accounting for taste, I guess.

People are wondering will they or won't they in SVU?! I always thought it was the most platonic relationship on earth.

Meloni and Hargitay have both said God knows how many times that their relationship is brother/sister. I agree with that assessment. But yeah, some are still wondering that.

I broke up with project runway this season. Lifetime.. Los Angeles.. terrible designers.. bummed me out.
I ditched House halfway through last week's episode (although I thought last year kinda stunk, too).

Rescue Me lost me in the third season. Heroes lose me during its third episode. Flash Forward only made me yearn for Lost.

That list it's kinda lame (Fringe!) but motivated the thread.
I almost drop Dexter since it's kinda boring. I guess Hall and the ensemble deserve another chance.
Kind of drifted away from Rescue Me this season. There was just so much other cool shit coming out, add that on top of some relationship issues and voila, no more Tommy Gavin.

I keep saying Entourage won't bring me back, but dammit, I can't help it.
I broke up with the US Office after the pilot. I've since tried to arrange some drunken hookups with it, but I can't ever seem to get it up. Just doesn't do it for me, at all.
Heroes: gave it two seasons to correct its mistakes and it only made them worse. Grey's Anatomy: too...much...hooking...up, too little doctorin', even by Grey's standards. Dollhouse: Whedon has used up all my good will. Project Runway: I'd like to say it was a drop in quality, but really I just couldn't justify watching anything on Lifetime. Top Chef: Can only stand but so many garden salads and ceviches.
Dexter. It took me a while, because Hall is a pretty good actor, but the writing on that show kinda blows.
I pretty much have left The Office. I can take it or leave it. I still DVR it, as my wife still watches it religiously. But it doesn't bother me to miss it.

I don't watch much episodic TV in general, though. I guess I could also say my relationship with The Simpsons is on life support.
Dexter. But it wasn't so much a conscious choice, like with Heroes, as it was that I just fell behind and never bothered to catch up.

House and Dollhouse are just hanging on by a thread.
"Grey's Anatomy", for sure, although I've been done with that show for a while. I might drop Eastwick despite my affection for Paul Gross -- it's just so stereotypical and insufferable.

And Glee is the secret romance I have to hide from all my friends, for a number of different reasons.
Burn Notice and I are like a doomed on again off again couple. I enjoyed the first season well enough but with the last two I've watched the first couple episodes and just haven't been to interested.
I completely severed ties with Heroes halfway through last season. Feeling completely exasperated after every episode will do that to a person. I'm going to give Flash Forward 2 to 3 more episodes to decide where I stand with it. So far the show is interesting, but lazy.
I just can’t quit Dollhouse, and am eagerly anticipating FOX sticking the knife in and ending it for me.
You can't break up with a show that you only watched the pilot of, or has only aired 3 episodes in toto. You just didn't like it.

Vegas weddings.
I agree about pilots. You don't break up with a one night stand.

Basically in the same boat the third season was a bit lackluster, but Lithgow has brought me back on board all hopeful and doe eyed.

spoiler- I think the third season definitely has its charms thanks to the interplay between Hall and Smits, but the ending to that was too abrupt, partly because they wanted to fuse the two main plot lines. They should have just kept the Skinner plot and the Smits plot separate. Deb should have collared the Skinner paying off the running plot line of her trying to prove herself as a good cop.

I think Dexter is going to be one of those shows where on repeat viewings you'll end up skipping a season or two or dissuade others from even going beyond a certain point. The first two seasons is probably all that needed to be said.
I'm watching DEXTER season 3 right now and I gotta say, I'm real disappointed. Oooooooh, is Dexter going to screw up his wedding!?! WHO CARES! I don't watch Dexter for his stupid personal life, I watch it to see the screws get tightened around him. The Jimmy Smits stuff is good, but if season 4 is more of this prosaic, domestic crap I'm out. Inclusion of a baby seems like a bad bad sign.

I can't believe some of you stuck with HEROES as long as you did. It was shit from episode one.
I've ditched Nip/Tuck, House, and finally, after trying to talk myself out of it, I have left Heroes for good.
Fringe, while still thoroughly entertaining is really pushing it after a solid first season half. I find myself growing ever more nostalgic for the X-Files while watching Season 2, which can't be a good thing.

Bless you.

Haven't flat-out dumped a show since Smallville about three years back. Now that Community is moving to 8pm I'll probably start my Thursday Night block at 8:30.

When Lost resumes, looks like it'll conflict with Glee. Not sure which one I'll have to time-shift.

The point of using the term "break up" is that it means you actually did like the show for some significant period of time before calling it quits.
yea. breakup should mean you were into the show for at least a season. saying you broke up with bored to death after two episodes doesn't count (and those of you who did are fools)

Honestly, I'm not sure why it took me so long. I only got through season 2 with lots of yelling and alcohol. Then season 3 came and I kept hearing about how things had changed and it was so much better now, so I gave it one more shot, but after that godawful premiere, I finally found the strength to call it quits.
I think we gave Heroes a bit of leeway because of its premise. But after suffering about 3 Seasons of this crap, my tolerance for it has came to an end as well.

Though after catching bits and pieces of the Season 4, I have to say there are some minor improvements now. Peter at least seems tolerable now.

House is another series I gave up on. It's a one trick pony. Can you imagine any Hospital putting up with the crap House does? Over 80 episodes of House being mean and sarcastic gets boring after a while.

Cameron and Thirteen are great eye candy though.
Smallville and I are like friends with benifits. Only when needed. I do tape it.

Broke up with House, The Simpsons, Nip/tuck, Atlanta braves baseball, heroes.

Many one night stands and let's not try to come up with a word decribing watching shows already ended.
This obviously doesn't count under break ups, but I know people who are refusing to even get into a relationship with Lost, just because everyone else is into it. They're usually the same people refusing Macs and Facebook.
I'm really close to being done with Fringe. The characters are nothing but a collection of ticks and eccentricities and no matter how wacky things get, there's just something too damn deliberate and soulless about it.

By the end, I was just fast-forwarding to the Chloe scenes. It wasn't a healthy situation for either of us.
SMALLVILLE has been my abusive husband for years but after episode one of the new season I've finally plucked up the courage to ditch the ungrateful bastard. Should have done it about six years ago but oh well.

I'll stick with HOUSE for the time being, though the BS with James Earl Jones as Idi Amin left me distinctly unimpressed. There's heightened reality....and then there's Looney Tunes. Especially bad considering the promising openers.

This. After the long wait for Season 3 to hit DVD, this was such a letdown.

This is kinda embarrassing to admit, but I used to watch 'Bones' pretty regularly. It was a reliably fun, dumb distraction and featured oddly copious amounts of gore for a show ostensibly geared towards 13 year old girls. Don't know what the hell happened between last season and this, but holy shit, 'Bones' is suffering from some of the most horrendous writing imaginable. Granted, it was never "The Wire" or whatever, but it was never this consistently, aggressively stupid.
I'm breaking up with Heroes at this very moment. I've only ever watched it on DVD - thought the first season was a honking big pile of dumb, but at least I got sort of attached to a few of the characters and hey, I had to see if Peter blew up New York City. The second season, I don't know, it was just so mind bogglingly stupid, I hate to bring up that tired car crash analogy, but I just could. not. look. away. Right now the family is in the living room watching episode five of season three and I have decided that I have had enough. The embarrassment I feel for everyone involved in that show is too overwhelming to derive any sort of pleasure from it anymore.
Office. Tired of the crazy shit they have Scott doing, it just isn't believable anymore...
Dollhouse. It irked me they kept this over Terminator.
FastForward. OK, so I never watched it but I did DVR every episode so far and erase is looking good.
American Idol. I miss Paula and the shit hasn't even aired yet... Simon has become boring, the singers have become repetative and if I hear "dog" one more fucking time I'm going to pound a nail into my skull.

There are probably more but ... after typing American Idol I'm all irked now.

There are 'shippers for every show.
