30 Rock - Season 4 - Page 2

Yeah, terrific episode. Getting the Sarah Palin porn star there was a stroke of genius.
Tracy's "too soon" when Liz talked about Thriller, Devin's POM POM POOOOM, "I want to kill you with a bazooka" and throwing the book, "Take a dog, it's like GOD but backwards"

Really great.
Can someone confirm that she was the same actress from "Nailin' Palin"? I assumed she was, but I don't know for sure.

Liked the cameo from Dr. Spaceman's book The Cigarette Diet at the beginning.

"The donkey died. You're the donkey now, Kenneth."

That is still making me laugh.
IMDb says the Porn Liz was portrayed by Savanna Samson, not Lisa Ann from Nailin' Paylin.

Lukewarm on this one. Was Jack's crevasse story a Touching the Void reference? And if so, whaa?
I liked that Kenneth works for Big Brother.

Clearly, Touching the Void was a fiction based upon his true adventure with Connie Chung.

P.S. Pete shoving Liz into the wall.

And "That won't work. Jenna's immune to alcohol and Tracy is afraid of juice."

I won't lie. I wanted to see what Fey & Co. had in mind for the Porn Kenneth.

Haven't really watched the previous seasons (I know, I know) so while I didn't get the history between Baldwin and Arnett, every single scene with them was solid gold. "Better than hot pizza, that's crazy." "You don't tell me what kind of pizza to like!"

I really need to watch the rest of the seasons...

Fixed.

Also, loved the "Doin' the Microwave" cut-away and Liz's response to same ("Did that really happen?!?). Was that Kenneth as one of the teenagers?

The pilot sucks. But the series started to pick up and get its groove quickly in.

Yes. Great ep. I loved every minute of it.

Definitely was Kenneth!

Did they give Will Arnett a toupee? His hair looked weird last night.
I also loved them inadvertently inventing the Pontiac Aztek while trying to design a big, flimsy, wasteful microwave.

No matter what anyone on here says, season three is basically a bust with a few good episodes. Season two is amazing. The second half of season one is as well. The Source Awards is still one of my favorite episodes.

If by bust you mean it wasn't quite up to the redicliously high standards of the previous two seasons then yes you are correct. It was still a fantastic season that top to bottom was better than pretty much every other comedy on TV.

The source awards episode is greatness just for the Donaghy Champaign.
If by bust you mean best season yet. The show is so consistently funny it's ridiculous. And then once or twice a season they bring out a little unexpected emotion that is like a cherry on the comedy cake.

"Complete bust?" No. But season three showed it was starting to lose steam. At the same time, it has the best episode of the series in "Apollo, Apollo." That and this...

My favorite episodes of the series were season 3. Generalissimo and the high school reunion one. But all the guest star episodes failed, so it struck a balance.
Yeah, I thought each season topped the previous. Three was great!
Generalissimo gave us a kid with dynamite over his head. Never forget.
This week episode was great.
I loved Kenneth at the shelter. I they find a clever way to use Big Brother again it would be really good.
"Or pizza".

I concur.
Loved the reveal of the Pontiac Aztek. Didn't like Jenna's wearwolf movie sub plot though.
I think this episode had not only one of Tracy's best lines ("Liz Lemon, you booger-head! I'm gonna kill you with a bazooka!") But also one of the best Jack/Devin encounters of all time.

Two words... Laser shield.
Yes, great episode. Had that breezy insanity that I love from previous seasons. The porn parody! Speaking of throwbacks to previous seasons, Will Arnett's Devon is such a great foil for Jack. I hope they continue to keep him in DC doing his best to mess with Jack and GE. (I thought they were owned by a wig company?)
My favorite part was Jack being surprised that Devon eats cold pizza.

"Better than hot pizza, that's insane."
"I'm really not trying to make this sound gay."
"No, it's just happening."

"I'll bury you, Jordan!" Further confirmation that you don't fuck with Betty White.
Well this was a lean episode laugh-wise.
I hate to be "that guy", but Stone Mountain is like 30 minutes from downtown Atlanta, and is just as full of strip malls and Walmarts as any suburban New Jersey town. Kenneth should hail from an actual rural place in Georgia.

Yeah, that kind of pissed me off too. Of course, they might be implying that Atlanta is just a hick town.
The gay friends were amazing. So was Betty White. I almost wish she'd die so it becomes even funnier.
Of course Jeff Dunham was lord of the Hill People. I don't know much about Georgian geography but Stone Mountain just sounds like it should be full of hillbillies that all look the same. Kind of like "Flowery Branch".

Betty White won this episode.
"I'll eat a bowl of cherries and some ghost meat in his honor."
It wasn't until the last scene that I realized that the faux-Jeff Dunham was actually the real Jeff Dunham. Well played, JD. Well played.

I like the random shots of Kenneth-folk in the audience.

I thought it was funny because New Yorkers, specifically those who think Manhatten is the center of the universe, would think a place like Stone Mountain, a suburb of Atlanta, would be a hick town.
At any rate, it was a fine episode, and it seems like the show has found its groove again.

And Jimmy Fallon cannot act.
The Stone Mountain complaints are similiar to my "complaint" from last season that they referred to White Haven, a little town in the Poconos, as being a suburb of Philadelphia. It's actually about 80 miles north and, for those keeping score, without its own high school (so where did you actually graduate from, Liz Lemon?!?).

Ultimately, who cares as long as it brings the funny?

I thought he wasn't bad, but I have a pretty low opinion of him in general and he may simply have exceeded my expectations. I did like that he was a good sport about knocking his own show.

So, Leno, Fallon... will Conan show up again?
Leno didn't show up, he followed through a joke on his own show. Conan is in Los Angeles now, harder for him to show up like before. Fallon will kinda take his place. Plus they must love the guy from the SNL years.
