To contribute, I could go without hearing Dust in the Wind ever again. Love Kansas, but can't stand that song.

And allow me to add anything by Smashmouth.
Many of my favorite bands have a single or two that was/is so overplayed I have no desire to ever hear it again, and always skip it if I'm listening to the album it's on. "Epic" by Faith No More and "Rooster" by Alice in Chains pretty much always get skipped. Same goes for "Creep"(Radiohead AND Stone Temple Pilots). I can't stand the first half of "Closer", and always fast forward to the spoken word and instrumental bits.

I remember when this hit radio. They played that fucker back to back.

I can do without hearing "I Believe in A Thing Called Love" by The Darkness ever again.

Elbow - One Day Like this. We get it, you struggled for years, won the mercury music prize now, became famous, now stop playing this bloody song.
Any song, in the past decade, that uses the words club or dance floor.
Stay tuned! Coming up after this commercial, we've got a doubleshot of Golden Earring!

Great...'Twilight Zone' and 'Radar Love'. Again.

Foghat? Great, time to hear fucking 'Slow Ride' again.
Slow ride is forever in my brain thanks to my 2 year nephew constanlty wanting his dad to play it on Guitar Hero.

Move to Alabama and you'll go through full 5 stages of grief over your musical taste, and this song will become a part of you, as relevant as the sound of your breath sliding down your throat. After hearing it at malls, restaurants, in elevators, on every commercial, in hospitals, at every sporting event, while you pump gas, on every radio station, even piped into the MRI machine where you can't escape. You will be assimilated, you will come to love Sweet home Alabama.

Now, hearing Sweet Home Alabama is like sweet ambrosia, the suckled teat of musical brilliance.

It's bllllliiiiiiisssssssssss.

Eye of the fucking Tiger.

Song 2 by Blur.

I can't believe this still gets used on car, sofa and even fucking yogurt adverts as some sort of lame short hand for excitement. There is nothing exciting about a driving Peugeot 306 and putting some MOR rock song on the advert isn't going to change my mind.
Absolutely love Sabbath, but I never, ever need to hear "Paranoid" again.

Level 42 "Something About You". Everytime I hear this, it's stuck in my stupid goddamn head for a week, which inevitably means I"ll walk around constantly singing that stupid falsetto part and sounding very much like Marlee Matlin going through a woodchipper. Buckets of hate for this song.

Anything by Eddie Money.

Kiss "Beth" (Hey, a dude in cat makeup is shitting in my ears!!)

The Ting-Tings "That's Not My Name". Never thought the day would come when I'd so desperately want to toss a cute British chick into a burlap sack and then throw that sack into an active volcano, but I really kinda do.

Wham "Last Christmas"

We could probably do a whole thread on Christmas songs (wait'll you hear the new Dylan album!), but the one that just finishes me is McCartney's "Wonderful Christmastime."

It's probably not the worst Christmas song ever, but my wife and daughter love it, so I get WAY too much of it.
Yeah, pretty much EVERY Christmas song will drive me up a wall. That being said, I'm looking forward to seeing the Brian Setzer Orchestra next month for his Christmas show.

Oh...and Trans-Siberian Orchestra can go fuck itself. I never, EVER need to hear their version of Carol of the Bells again

Shit. I knew I should've looked that up. I forgot if it had too many n's or too many y's.

Christmas radio back when I was working at a supermarket actually killed a Springsteen song for me. I can still listen to and enjoy such overplayed hits as "Born in the USA" and "Glory Days" (though "Glory Days" is a trial sometimes) but so help me God I never need to hear his "Merry Christmas, Baby" again.

ETA: And yes, fuck Trans-Siberian Orchestra.

Warning: grumpy self-righteous rant ahead... (that should be taken in good humor, btw)

You know what song I don't want to hear ever again? The fucking song and dance of "pop music connoisseurs" when they sit around, chin-stroking and pontificating over fucking pop music! The merits of Lady Gaga. The genius of how the Black Eyed Peas "just make you wanna dance!"

Ugh! It's fucking shithole, worthless, disposable pop music! It has no worth, other than to satisfy the short attention spans of mindless peons trying to stay on top of what's "hip" on the radio and in 'da clubs.

It's the musical equivalent of assholes who loooooooooove Michael Bay films, and say "hey, bub, just shut your brain off and stop THINKING so much. It's just a bit of fun." No. No it isn't.

Whew. Sorry about that. Carry on, everyone.
Don't Speak, by No Doubt. Everything about that song is awful, but I hate it most for the acoustic guitar solo.

After living in New England for six year I could never hear Sweet Caroline again and die a happy man.

Remember, I said that I was more inclined to talk about songs I once DID like, and just got sick to death of. And FWIW, I've never seen Wayne's World.

I've lived in Massachusetts my whole life, how do you think I feel?

Actually, that's a fairly new tradition, you probably showed up right around the time it started. Of course, that in no way makes it okay. I shoot and edit sports videos for the local high school and the hockey team two years ago wanted the video to end with Sweet Caroline. You don't know the pain that song can truly cause until you spend six hours cutting a montage to it.

And Mannheim Steamroller (presuming they're not the same thing, which I'm actually not sure about).

George Thorogood. I'll be fair and say that I don't have a thorough (thoro?) knowledge of his albums, but the songs that made it to radio make me weep for our lost humanity. One verse from I Drink Alone and wonder why I don't just give up and sell meth for a living.

And then the fucking thing gets stuck in my head. Horrifying. Give me Mojo Nixon any day for a raspy, bluesy schtick any day.

I hate those damn Mannheim Steamroller Christmas albums. I'll never forget the sheer hell of having to work a Christmas at Camelot Music in the early 90s; those things were in constant rotation all day for a month.

Wow. Did they at least let you put on the Carpenter's Christmas album once in a while...you know, to add a little *edge* to the day?
We had some of the Mannheim steamroller cds and one or two of those 'Very Special Christmas' cds on shuffle for a month/5 weeks. If memory serves, we were doing a promotion or something on all of them.

PURE HELL.

Anyone who works (or has EVER worked) a retail Christmas hates Christmas music.

I sympathize, but for whatever reason, my time in retail didn't do that to me. I'm actually something of a Christmas music collector.

i dont hate the song, but Natalie Imbruglia's "torn" tends to pop up in the radio/speakers/tv a lot when Im going through some emotional/relationship crisis....so i could really use never hearing it again.
Also, I work at a sport themed shopping mall...if I hear "Maniac" or "eye of the tiger" one more time, Im going to snap.

"You had a bad day" - Daniel Pearl

I hate that song and the frequency with which it seems to crop up is only increasing. Surely a sign of the impending Apocalypse of 2012...
"Not gonna WRITE you a LOVE song, cuz you ASKED for it..."

God...that song played at least five times a day at the shitty ice cream place I worked at. The thing that really pissed me off was the opening of the song is almost identical to "Cold as Ice", so each time my hopes for a good song would go up only to be dashed down again.

Nothing against Lady Gaga. I can't stand Stefani after the exposure period arbitrary designated by MTV.
BEP. A bearable pain if I am watching the video and she is on screen.

Still....where'd the lighter fluid come from?

Anything by Nickelback & The Steve Miller Band, and no more "Fool In The Rain" by Zeppelin.

Billy Squier - Lonely is the Night

For the longest time, I thought this was some horrible song Robert Plant must've done right after Zeppelin disbanded. Then I came to find out it's THIS jackoff doing his best to browbeat a shitty band into doing a very shitty rip-off of Zeppelin. I now want to smash things when I hear this piece of shit.

Speaking of "breaking stuff"... toss Limp Bizkit - Rollin' onto the pile. Fuck it, just make it Fred Durst's voice on the whole. Ditto that for Aaron Lewis.

Also, 99% of anything new played on rock radio.

This is the first "wow, really?" one for me. Always loved that song, and it got little to no play on the classic rock stations I listened to when I listened to the radio.
I used to really like that song, too; for some reason, over the last four or five years, I feel like I hear it literally every time I have the radio on, be it one of the Sirius/XM classic rock stations or our local (DC) classic rock station. Now every time I hear it, I just fume and wonder why it'd be so damn difficult to play "Four Sticks" or "Out On The Tiles" once in awhile.
