Google Wave

I'm curious if any Chewers got in on the Google Wave beta (I didn't!).

For those who don't know, here's a short summary of what this is:

...and here's the really long version (80 minutes!):

I'm in.

Slowly playing around with it. Not everything is working yet, but if I'm the only one on here in the beta, I'll try to answer questions if people have them.

Yeah, still fiddling around with it here too.

I've got the Wave going on. Have next to no idea what I'm doing with it.

Hmm....I don't suppose any of you have invites to spare?

I had to ask

No invites here. :/ I actually signed up for beta, but didn't get in until I got an invite from a friend who got in before me. He was given immediate invites, but as an invitee, I apparently have none. I hope someone can help you out, though.

PM me your address and I'll invite you. I think it takes a fair while for the invite to go through, but happy to assist.

I believe mine took around 3 days (though it could have been anywhere from 2-5 days), but I don't know how typical that is.

Yeah, it still hasn't gone through.

I've got my brother hyped about this now, and he wants to try Google Wave to write a screenplay for our movie project we've been putting off for months.

Speaking of which, once you get in, how long does it take for you to get your own set of invites? You get 8 of them, right?

I've got a couple to spare, Renn. PM me your email address and I'll invite you.

I got one thanks to lurker. It seems fine right now. I hope it will grow and become more accepted than google docs (which are awesome).

Happy to help. I just got another batch of invites and I've invited most my friends who would use it already. So if anyone is interested, PM me your email address.

I should say that in order to try and keep things moderately free of spam, I'll only give them out to people whose handles I recognize and who have been around for at least a little while.

PM sent. I'd love to play around with this.

Oh, I'd love me some of this. PM on the way.

What! Outrageous! You are not going to thrust to "Cyclops1103" Registered since 2006, post count: 3. That's not fair

I got into the beta, thanks to an invite from OCallaghan, but it's been a bit anti-climactic, since I don't know anyone else with Google Wave.

I tried out the translation bot, but that's about it.

Has anyone actually done some real "collaborative editing" like all the advertisements show? Has it made things any faster than just using e-mail?

I want to give a shout out to lurker monkey. I just got my invite!

I've got some spares so PM me if you want an invite. Anything to help make this thing actually useable.

For any chewers that are in and still not sure how it works or what the fuck to do with it:

It's a pretty thorough guide on the whole thing. I just got in a couple of days ago and I'm still learning my way around. Hope it helps.

So I've recently been using Google Wave quite a bit - I invited my whole family, and we've been using it to put together a collective family Christmas wish list, as well as work on the script for out next home movie project...not to mention killing time with competitive Sudoku.

It's got a lot of bugs and stability problems, but there's nowhere to go but up. I can't wait for some of the more ambitious gadgets to get released.
I tried to use it to work on some C code with a partner and I was very disappointed by it. The interface is confusing and I had trouble just replicating what I would normally do with a shared Google Doc.

Since some names magically appears on contacts I will say I'm Andres over the cloud.
I have some invitations now, PM me if you want one.

happy Waving

ETA: BTW, It's amazing the amount of people who uses fake id on google while others use it as a serious (academic sometimes) address.
