Actually, thanks to CHUD I knew about half of these.

This one is my favorite.

I tried searching for the cute animal thread, but alas the search function stumped me.

I know and love all those guys. Folks need to pay better attention to the animal kingdom if they don't know about these dudes.

Angora Rabbit was the only one I didnt knew about...it looks like a tribble with a glandular issue.

The axolotl that Diva's showing looks like something from my wife's Pokemon games. The cuteness... it is overwhelming.

That axolotl picture is a bit misleading, though. It makes it look like it has a smaller neck, when from the side it really looks more like a fish or snake (with basically no neck, just the head going into a body of similar thickness). That picture makes it look less like a fish/snake/lizard and more like a little sea monkey. In fact, it makes the axolotl look unfairly cute!

Yeah fully, dunno what kind of shut-in compiled the list for these animals to qualify as "you didn't know existed". Hell, number one are rather common household pets here in Australia.

That devil-squid or whatever it's called from the BBC's "Planet: EARTH" miniseries was pretty evil looking. The one with the glowing red eyes.

Animals from caves also are pretty evil looking, as a rule

Yeah in all seriousness, you never seen an Axolotl, people? I buy feeder fish from a pet store that has a bunch of these guys. My housemate has this weird hatred thing for them: he is a peace loving dude but he goes into violent rages anytime he sees one. Is weird.

Also: GO PIMP CRAB! YEAH!

Sorry guys, the Bronx Zoo isn't exactly known to house tropical sea creatures. We've got the standard lions and tigers and bears, oh my!

Yeah, it's a great defense mechanism. You just couldn't stay angry at a face like that.

Here's another piglet squid;

Yeah the Axolotl is fairly well known but they had a freaking mole on the list, too.

Personally, I had heard of and seen drawings of aye ayes before, but they don't do the real thing justice. That is one weird lookin' animal! But I call shenanigans on placing cicadas on that list. Who hasn't heard of those?!

Didn't know existed?

Hunting Podlings in my nightmares for years.

The pistol shrimp. It shoots shock wave bubbles from the snap produced from it's "shootin' arm", which is strong enough to kill small fish. Youtube has some videos of these guys blasting away.

I call double shenanigans given the popularity of Phillipe Mora's 80s masterpiece The Beast Within, which turned this amazing insect into a household name.
